The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. Positioned as the entry-level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles.
Despite FWD I still wish this was available in the US. Perhaps when it’s electric and RWD? Perfect city/urban car.

What you see here is what you will also get in the upcoming 2er Gran Coupe.
Except in a Coupe body with frameless glass windows. But all the features here including the M35i with the M235i xDrive.
Not really. It will be longer. Who needs a long car when the only street parking available is for short cars. There’s a reason why golfs, minis, smarts, and mazda 3s sell well in dense urban cities in the us.

Build quality seems to be high, even surpassing that of Mercedes according to this video, which is something I’ve come to expect from BMW.
Still not convinced by the exterior, but the interior is just beautiful, apart from losing the the I6 and RWD it seems to be a good replacement to the F20.

It's actually better in real life. Where you can actually see the proportions three dimensionally. Some at Villa d"Este commentated on how Italian it looks. Saying it has a Fiat-like quality of its appearance.
Well, I certainly hope it was meant as a compliment.

The Z4 upon launch I didn’t like it now I love its looks especially in person, so this may be the same case.

Fiat and compliment? Maybe in the 1960s. The F40 has the beltline of a 2007 Bravo.

It Is quite similar I agree. Especially the join at where the front lights meet the bonnet and front wing too. Just as the Fiat Tipo is based on the E87 1er.
