Cloth seats or leather? Sunroof or spoiler? Walk into any auto dealership to buy a new car, and you'll be offered a multitude of options. If it's a BMW you're buying, however, there's a twist: you can walk out of the showroom and change your mind later. Perhaps you'd really prefer the poplar interior trim to the brushed aluminum. Or maybe those retractable headlight washers would be useful after all. Your BMW dealer will be happy to oblige with as many changes as you care to make, until a cutoff point: six days before your particular car goes into production....

BMW Drives Germany - TIME

Thanks, man! :usa7uh:

I'll read it later, but i get the point and i say respect to BMW; customer care and the right treatment!

:t-cheers:

This is a little vague...what are they talking about? BMW only? OR BMW, Mini and RR?

Putting BMW on a more efficient footing at home has enabled it to expand its product line in all directions. Over the past decade, it has evolved from a group with six model families--with the 3-, 5- and 7-series cars accounting for the vast majority of sales--to one with 11 model families grouped in three distinct brands, BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce. Three new model families are in the works, including a luxury sports car.

What we 100% know:

Phantom coupe

Mini Touring

X6

Concept CS 'luxury sports car'

Maybe coming:

Z2, Z8, X1, RR sedan below Phantom, above 7er, Mini SUV

Three new BMW families:

1. Sports Activity Coupe family (X6, X4, X2)

2. Sports Cruiser family (F5, F3, F1/2)

3. Top-line luxurious sports family ("8"-family: new Z8, new 8er)

:t-cheers:

Also not completed: the 1er family. Still to come / or in consideration:
1er coupe (coming), 1er cabrio (coming), 1er sedan (in consideration), 1er touring (in consideration - instead of 5dr hatch), 1er shooting brake (in consideration), X1 mini-SUV (planned), Z2 roadster (planned).

:usa7uh:

MINI: hatch (available), hatch convertible (available), wagon (coming), crossover (planned), coupe/roadster (in consideration).

RR: Phantom (SWB / LWB; available), Phantom Drophead Coupe (available), Phantom Coupe (identical to 101EX Concept; coming), Silver Seraph ("baby RR"; coming), Corniche (baby RR convertible; planned), Camargue / Silver Wraith (baby RR coupe; in consideration).

I have probably missed the point but it is a pity that those last 6 days before the cut off date for changing the order was not the lead time from order to delivery instead of the near six months to acquisition :t-banghea . What might offset the long wait though is if a number of those options were standard fit instead of adding to the already high cost of the standard car:eusa_thin . I think that unfortunately that this is probably true of all the German Car Manufacturers.

What are the waiting times from ordering to delivery of the others, Just curious? :t-hands:
