Didn't see the vid yet, but what's an Aplina?

:D
He talks about a few Alpina models from yesteryear such as the E38 B7 and E12 B5 and E24 6-series B6. Fabulous cars. I also like the 1M alot.

The older Alpina models don't use the B designation the way the current models do. For example the E24 Six wasn't a B6, it was either B7, B9 or B10 or such sub derivatives.

The E12 would likely have been a B7, and the E38 was likely a B11* or B12.

Essentially the designation used to indicate the motor type, rather than the car it was fitted to.

I didn't watch the video though, I find Harris just annoying to listen to these days.

edit: this set me wondering... I think the the B3, B5, B7 system as it's used now began with the E46 3-er, then the E60 5-er and E65 7-er.

*Brain-fart, there was no V8 Alpina E38, just the V12 B12.

He still can drive better than any of us here. A joy to watch his nonchalant car control. I'd love to be able to drive like that.

///Mmmmm, that green E24.

Just for the sake of clarifying, Top Gear has re-uploaded the video correcting their typo. Originally, it said "Aplina." It was just me being a smart-ass.
