If done genuinely well, the shooting brake constitutes an ideal solution for many car lovers. The grace and athletic elegance of a more conventional 2 door (or nowadays 4 door) coupe with an additional element of practicality. A well-executed shooting brake can be every bit as slick as a fastback ("sportback" or whatever). Or maybe even moreso.

This upcoming BMW concept could be VERY special.
 
If it's just a Shooting Brake version of the Sky Top, that'd be a bit weak. I mean, it might look better, but I'd rather they were taking the opportunity to do something a bit more imaginative.

They actually investigated two. One was based on the M6 and the other was with the 3er/4er back in the days.

They might put this one out to tender like the CSL and SkyTop. The Z4 was too expensive for what it was.
The SkyTop is in Cannes showing off to its new owners probably.
 
I am a big Shooting Brake fan, they are the sports car station wagon all in one.

If it follows on with a modern interpretation of the M Coupe I will be all in. The M Coupe is one of my favorite BMW cars from the early 2000s.

I think Z4 Touring does its best to mimic the Z3/MCoupe in modern terms. They should have made the Z4 Touring an M Concept however.
