It gives me Rolls-Royce vibes with the overall styling and silhouette. Also, those wheels kind of reminded me of the ones that are on the previous generation Maybach S-Class.

Seems to be a preview of the next gen 8 series. While the more conservative design language is very welcome, from some angles its a bit weird. Proportions give Z4 vibes, and those rims are horrible even for a production car, more so for a concept where there are no real constraints to creativity.

I like it a lot. Like I love(d) the VFL. This concept looks like it is developed in Karim Habibs period. So dated.

But I'll take this interior over any modern interior with bis screens.

Exterior wise, it looks like a step back to current BMW design. Not the mainstream design we see nowdays with the Chinese BEV's introduced lately. All very nice proportioned and designed, but no one now's the brand. They all look the same.

A BMW needs a "bold", "self confident" design. (With this I don't mean polarizing with vertical kidneys and FWD front-overhangs).

Like the iX and "neue Klasse" iX3 (both with horizontal kidneys).

Maybach 6 concept

There’s nothing similar between the two mate. Maybach 6 looks just like a yacht, it’s gargantuan. And it’s definitely more concept car-ish than the BMW. Design wise it’s also much curvier and more organic. I think BMW leans more towards the Rolls-Royce Droptail. There are definitely much more similarities between those two.

I find this particular image the most enticing. The socalled "prestige clearance", the very shallow distance between the top of the wheelarch lip and crest of the elegantly sweeped front fender, the short overhang, the squint of the headlamps. As for the rims, well...they're o.k. BMW often shows that it can do far better.

I wonder why they released this now. Clearly it’s too old to put into production. Perhaps it will be a limited run coach-building exercise i.e. they will re-body the current 8 series, leave interior as-is, and do a run of 50-100 units to mark the end of production of the current 8 series?

The car was freshly built, like as of last month. As far as the limited run, I think that's the plan. Will talk more about this in the video after the embargo. I just filmed the car
