Impossible.Mark my words, this car will be BMW's most important car, even more so than the 3 series. In fact I reckon this will push overall sales into the big league.
Yep. Proportion wise these latest CGIs are MUCH closer to the real deal.
Although do not expect 6er-like styling on the CST.
The double-crease shoulder line will be similar to the one of E83 X3. The kink interpretation is also very interesting. Otherwise no surprises.
More important than 3er? Hardly. This car will be Euro-biased, 3er is much more a global model. But it surely has a possibility to be a 100k+ model (if Euro markets stay relatively healthy). And will certainly bring in some new customers to the BMW brand.
In a few short weeks we will see the Concept prior to its premiere in Paris, I should warn you though that the initial prototypes we see have excess vacumed plastic padding underneath the swirl camouflage so it loses the organic shape that lies underneath including the character line and design lines in the lower areas of the car which bring its proportions into effect. It is in reality a very good looking car and will be a very direct rival for the B-Klasse ,Mercedes which is enjoying huge success in Europe currently.
Of course we know that people will dismiss this car as not a true BMW, and that in an act of rage we will probably expect some M3 owners to burn their keys in protest. As of the renders some are way off in another direction for example it is not going to be a 6er turned into a small concept.
The BMW FWD cars are designed to be a break from the norm , a sort of reimagining of the volume car.
Each concept is designed to appeal to the customer who wants to feel that difference and also wants to stand out.
BMW CST , BMW City Compactive and BMW F.A.S.T. are individual concepts that distinguish themselves from other volume cars , looks are one thing but the engineers have managed to find that BMW feel transition to Fwd.
The new FWD family also brings MINI into a more profitable arrangement than previously.
The combined MINI / BMW FWD family also allows more concepts to come from the same modular architecture.

C'mon, there's no way the Compactive Van will look like that sketch. As per usual, a sketch looks 1,0000% more dramatic than what becomes the production car. That thing looks sleeker than a 6-Series there.
What I'm wondering is how "seriously" BMW will take the origins of what the Hofmeister Kink signifies. Yes, it's been diluted and misinterpreted to hell by all the FWD econoboxes of the world, but will BMW put a Hoff on its FWD Van? Or will they keep it "sacred" for only the RWD (or of course 4WD which are based on RWD platforms) cars.
^Maybe you all should view this particular model as a forerunner to a range of offsprings which could very well included a Scirrocco type because if as popular as I believe it might be then BMW will milk this cash cow dry and why not.
Levi68, must you go on every single thread and write post like this? We understand you like RWD cars, but car manufactures have many many other factors to consider when they are planning their new models, so will you please refrain yourself from making similar comments in the future unless it is absolutely related to the topic of discussion.I like the Scirocco, but it would be even better as RWD. So a FWD BMW to rival the Rocco is pointless.

I like the Scirrocco too and regardless of what you might think there is a market for people preferring a small light fwd type coupe, if there wasn't then we wouldn't have the numbers we already have. BMW are wise to this which is why they feel the need to fill this void, after all the sales increase won't come from moving upmarket.
As long as the whole concept stays true to BMW core values and styling I can see us having one in the family if not two with another for the son.
What I think....pfff
There is no end of "sporty" FWD cars. As for RWD cars there is only the 1 Series F21 (ugly), 1 Series E82 (old, Subaru BRZ / Toyota GT86 ("cheap") and the Hyundai Genesis Coupé (neither this nor that). If BMW is to build FWD cars it is for business case, but a "sporty" FWD is not worth, unlike Mini JWC. FWD is good for the "normal", it adds more space and "simplicity" for the avarage driver.
It's all black or white for you, isn't it?
Why can't there be a sporty FWD? Have you driven a Peugeot 106 Rallye? A Mini Cooper S?
Also, why does an MPV type of a vehicle, even with a BMW badge have to be RWD? People will buy it because they need a spacious car and they want to pay premium for the badge. It's their problem. RWD won't make a difference, but a nice, informative steering and a sporty feel will be enough to justify the premium price tag.
I just hope there won't be any FWD M Car, that is even worse than a V6 powered BMW.
