Your post looks like a catalogue of the G01's options :D Btw since when did the ces become so important to carmakers ?

Yep, sort of ... Most of those features will find a way into G11 ... some already at launch, some a bit later.

Btw since when did the ces become so important to carmakers ?

Since in-car-electronics has been extensively paired & interconnected with consumer electronics - mainly smartphones, smartwatches, smartglasses, smartTV, tablets etc.

UI of in-car systems will be even more interconnected with smart mobile (and stationary) devices, so expect even greater presence of carmakers @ consumer electronics shows.

That key with display is ridiculous. Why in this day and age do people have to carry a brick around with them when they already have a smartphone on them? How about making the key SMALLER and having all this gimickry on your phone?

and here we have the current and new 7er interior in one pic! ;)

Which new model do we think it's referring to...... ?

There are only three possible options. In order of least likely to most likely:

M2 Coupe
Not a chance.

M3/M4
Only slightly more likely than "not a chance".

2016 100 Year Anniversary Sooper Dooper Flagship M8 (or whatever they call it)
This is the only possibility as far as I'm concerned. And 15 months from now is Geneva 2016.

Within 15 months ... January 2015 - March 2016.

Let me just say ... It's not a coincidence all the hi-tech lighting solutions has been showcased on the M4 Coupe Concept! :)

Also ... M GmbH production model doesn't necessary mean M model ... I could be an M Performance model ... eg. M750 (y)

Totally agree with you, it is huge and much bigger than a conventional car remote. Nowadays with the advancement in bluetooth they could have made a conventional key remote having a bluetooth connection to a smart phone and all the info could be displayed in a bigger and clearer format on the phone.

It does not make much sense. Specially when the integration with smartphones is gonna keep increasing. Probably the key will end up disappearing.

Yes ... Via MirrorLink, AndroidAuto or Apple CarPlay many car functions (lock / unlock, remote engine start, remote HVAC controls etc etc) will be accessed & controlled via apps on various mobile devices.

But especially in the case of premium & luxury brands a key fob also have a function of an accessory-cum-status-symbol. So, I guess it will be the same case with premium car brand smart key fobs.

Exclusivity ... Tons of people have an iPhone or Galaxy or One or Z or Nexus or G ... But only a few will have a BMW smart key fob. :)

...because pulling out a digital-screened key fob is so much cooler than opening an app on your phone.

Ah, the usability paradigm I struggle with almost every other day at work.

In an ideal world, yes your smart phone would be the one central hub for all your connected devices - TV, AV equipment, thermostat, lights and I guess your car too now. But on the other hand, it adds a lot of usability friction - unlock your phone and then launch a dedicated app to do a simple task.

What you really need is context awareness - the phone knows you are watching TV and the vol buttons on the phone control the vol on the TV, or in this case, the phone knows you are close enough to a car and unlocking the phone, also unlocks the car. Not launch a TV control app and then control the volume in the app or launch a car app and then unlock door. But the neither the phones nor the devices are there yet, so we are stuck in this crappy UX middle ground.

Not by any stretch of the imagination is an M Performance model an "M product". Utter marketing claptrap, and I own an M Performance model.

I'm assuming you're being sarcastic?
