Hot! BMW AG: What's Next

My point is for that amount of money it should be a much better car than a 4 series with a big engine and a cool body kit. Let's be real here. 700K is a ridiculous amount of money and for that you should be getting something truly special. I'm sure there will be 50 dumb people that will buy it, and I'm sure it'll look pretty cool, but for that money I can't see how it's remotely worth it.
Because they probably know it'll be worth double that amount when they have it delivered. That's why wealthy people aren't dumb, at least financially speaking..

I don't think the car will ever be worth 1.4 million dollars.

Objectively it's probably not, but - to state the obvious - if someone, or more specifically, 50 people, are willing to pay that amount - it doesn't matter if it's worth it.

Regarding the earlier discussion about the Neue Klasse.. will there still be an ICE 3 Series on CLAR alongside this model? Would suck to have this G20 gen be the last ICE 3 Series, and especially as BMW's best selling model they can't just switch it to fully electric.

That's an interesting question. Either NK1 isn't that far removed from CLAR, and they can use two platforms to underpin different models within the same range... or the 3 series is going to continue to be CLAR based for one more generation, and the Neue Klasse will be an independent model... or they're going to drop the ICE powered 3 series completely.

I could see any of those three scenarios being the case, but the first two way before the last one. They're building additional capacity for NK1, and they've just built additional capacity for the 3 series (San Luis Potosi). The volume the 3-er provides has got to be a major component of the economy of scale they have with combustion engines... I'd suggest it'll be one of the last models to go ICE only. I'm also not sure they'll go down the route of introducing a Neue Klasse model line... I think it would muddy the waters too much with BMW i, the i5 and the i7. I can believe that the NK1 platform isn't that removed from CLAR, so at the moment, I'd lean towards the first option.

I could of course, be entirely wrong.

I think Neue Klasse is just CLAR optimized for EVs. And after the all the handwringing about still selling ICE cars I think it’s weird Zipse said the first models on Neue Klasse (3-series included) will be EV only.

M2

edit: Not sure why there appears to be such a texture to the paint though... or why it's got a funky paintjob.

New M2 Racing perhaps.

I'm attempting to visualize this sans the matte black warpaint and aero-tinnef. In a subdued, elegant tone of paint with toned-down scalloping of the wheelarch blisters. Could it be..."WELCOME BACK TO BEAUTY, BMW !! It's been a while." ?

I somewhat get your point ... 600k+ for a "rebadged" M4CSL would be ... insane. But after reading some further hints/comments from insiders at bimmerpost, I'm unsure, whether "rebadged" M4CSL does do this 3.0 CSL special vehicle justice! If you follow those insiders, we are talking about a vehicle with a transaxle setup! So the underpinnings would be rather similar to a M4GT3 (which itself is based on the normal G82)! So the talk about a manual transmission could be a hint towards the Xtrac 6 speed adapted for street use.
What I'm trying to say: If this 3.0 CSL hommage is technically rather a street legal conversion of the M4GT3, it will be insane and worth every penny of hypothetical 600k price point ...

You nailed a few points. This is why the car is homologated in very few markets.

More on this soon, will have a new update since lots of people are just speculating now.
