After having a Lamborghini Gallardo for 3 days last weekend (will post a review with pictures when I have time), I was lucky enough today to take the keys of a 730d F01 for the next week too. Have to do lots of driving over the next 7 days, so I decided to rent a car to give my M3 a rest. Just picked this up from Sixt hire company. Pretty much fully loaded. Equipment included:

Head-up Display
Blind Spot Protection
Lane Assist
Radar Cruise Control
Rear View Camera
Rear Seat DVD Entertainment System
Bluetooth
20" Wheels
Electric rear luggage compartment opening
Dynamic Headlights
And others which I have forgotten

It already feels very nice to drive.

Looks fabulous. Looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts regarding how it goes. The Gallardo is beyond fortunate. Can't wait to hear about that experience.:usa7uh:

Safe travels.

Really nice.....SWB looks much better balanced.

Of course the kidney grille is too big and the interior materials+fit&finish are inferior to the rivals. No to mention the car is lacking graciousness. :D:usa7uh:

I can give you two opinions on the 7 Series already. First one; it is a truly luxurious machine. The interior is gorgeous and it is so comfortable to drive, but then I'm used to the suspension on the M3. Second one; Christ almighty, the noise from the side mirrors above 110km/h is truly appalling for a car of this class. I'd forgotten all about this supposed problem when I went out for a quick drive tonight. Joined the motorway and accelerated towards a nice high speed, and on passing 110km/h, the noise just came all of a sudden. I didn't have the radio on, and the engine is very quiet which makes the wind noise more noticeable, but it really does spoil what is an excellent car. I believe BMW are working on a fix, but whoever signed those mirrors off as being good enough needs a thorough talking to. :t-banghea

I'm hoping to write up my thoughts on the Gallardo soon, but it may take a while. I'm so busy at the moment. But here's a pic I took at the weekend for a taster.

Thanks much. Seems odd and rather clumsy that the mirrors made it to the finished product. The Gallardo teaser is also much appreciated.:usa7uh:

I was told - promised - when i ordered my F01 that BMW is all but finished designing the new side mirrors for the 760Li that will remove this excessive wind noise and that all future 7ers will recieve these upated mirrors... I'm going to try and order a pair for my machine as the wind noise can be annoying at high way speeds.

Damn Betty, sounds like you're having one hell of a time with Cars. Have fun driving the 7, as I'm sure the Gallardo was a blast.

Wow!! Looks stunning - especially the interior!! Have a lot of fun the next week and many happy miles… :D

Don't you just love EnI's sarcasm!? hee hee

^ You don't have to state the obvious all the time. We know you don't like anything Eni does, including his sarcasm :)

I don't like the interior combo of the 7er much. The wood is wrong type, I am no fan of the leather color and the screens in the seats look quite bad in black :(
It's good to read you like the car though, and I can't wait for the Gallardo review :D

Just driven 750km on Friday afternoon from Southern Holland to Northern England. Amazing car in which to soak up the miles. I love the Active Cruise Control. It almost drives itself, which despite my love of 'M', I know there is still a place for cars like the 7 Series, and it does it's job with aplomb.

I still can't work out whether this car has Dynamic Drive or not. It's disguised very well if it has, in that it doesn't intrude. It just allows you to take roundabouts without lifting off. Not bad for a two tonne car.

Seriously, this is a very nice way to cross continents.
