I tried, couldn't do it. I love their work, but lets not get carried away. That said, it's a 7 or S no question. The Audi is to sterile inside and looks like a German Buick from the outside. If the A8 isn't going to move to a proper platform/architecture for a car of this class, then they need to hang it up. I can't imagine that in 5-6 years it will again be redesigned on such economy car underpinnings. It's a disgrace for such a technically advanced car to drive and look like a giant Jetta.

Save its' sheer size and massive grill, the A8 is certainly the most inconspicuous of the trio. Visually, it does not make a sustainable statement and is rather nondescript. I strongly suspect that its' successor, come 2023/24, will be a vastly different car developed on the new Porsche/Audi PPE large car BEV platform. The current MLBevo matrix will be laid to rest.
Currently, it is the BMW 7 series (especially in SWB G11 form), that pleases my eyes most. Inside and out.

All Audis are steril, thats their big problem. But they sell like h..ll anyway.....I guess people like steril boring cars...

The new E-tron looks good but it's too much like a Q5 and the interior doesn't look elegant or luxurious at all, full of sharp angles and black gloss plastic. Watch out for Volvo I honestly think their styling and interiors look far better than boring Audis

I expect the new S class to re-establish itself as the ride benchmark. The Audi achieves its status without the use of runflats whereas the S manages to rival the Audi despite its runflats.

Just FYI: Audi is not doing well. Speak with anyone in corporate and they tell you if they’re honest. There are still people there that believe the old way is the right way and “why should we be worried or change?” It’s also the first time employees are genuinely concerned about their jobs. Audi will cut many (rightfully and necessary).

The currents have been known to be caustic within the VAG organization and Audi management has been known to be "difficult". While many within VAG pushed for the D5 A8 being based on the Panameras' then-new MSB matrix, Audi managers drove their heads through walls and tossed tantrums in order to get the MLBevo approved as the D5s' platform.
A mistake, in my opinion-the testimony to which being the D5s' far less than satisfactory sales performance. Audi has since lost quite a portion of its' former intracorporate influence (Dieselgate, WLTP blunders, etc.) while Porsche is becoming all the more influential. I suspect that this will benefit VAG as a whole.

I'm sure that this makes all parties unhappy. People at AUDI lost their influence and people at Porsche can not concentrate on their products but should make universal platforms. It's hard to believe that somebody at Porsche is happy to be a part of VAG.
