5 Series BMW 5 Series GT (aka PAS) - spy pics & info

The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured and marketed by BMW since 1972. The car is sold as either a sedan or, since 1991, a station wagon (marketed as "Touring"). A 5-door fastback (marketed as "Gran Turismo") was sold between 2009 and 2017. Each successive generation has been given an internal G-code designation since 2017. Previously, a F-code designation was used between 2010 and 2016, while an E-code designation was used between 1972 and 2010. These are used to distinguish each model and generation from each other.

Here are some details from the AutoBild article :

Thanks for the info, Ralf.:usa7uh:

Although i admit that chop looks good, i'm still not interested and not excited at all.

Re: BMW F5 Progressive Activity Sedan - spy pics & info

Funny it's called Progressive Activity Sedan...

Re: BMW F5 Progressive Activity Sedan - spy pics & info

I must say, if the info Ralfd translated from AutoBild is correct (thanks BTW), I'm very interested in this car. At times I do need more space than my sedan offers (eg. transporting my dog), but I could never bring myself to buy a touring. Something about a station wagon look that is very off-putting. Now a 5 series fastback is something that could look interesting (in a good way :D). Not to mention the higher ground clearance would help in my metro area where potholes and high bumpers reign supreme. The new X6 does look sexy but I'd bet this PAS is significantly lighter and therefore a far better handling car.

Re: BMW F5 Progressive Activity Sedan - spy pics & info

Lol, i know. But in any case it doesn't bother me since i'm not interested in ths car...:D

:t-cheers:

Re: BMW F5 Progressive Activity Sedan - spy pics & info

It looks good but will likely not have the Audi-ish fog lights or the CS styled tail lights.

Re: BMW F5 Progressive Activity Sedan - spy pics & info

According to AutoBild, the new APS will be a real fat-ass with a base weight starting at no less than 1900kg! Have in mind that the car is “only” 4,85m long and 6cm taller than a 5-series ……. :eusa_thin

Engine program from start:
3.0si 306hk/400Nm
4.0si 408hk/600Nm
3.0d 245hk/550Nm
3.0sd 300hk/650Nm

3.0si 306hk/400Nm
4.0si 408hk/600Nm
3.0d 245hk/550Nm
3.0sd 300hk/650Nm

Wait a second! 3.0sd with 300hp and 650Nm???

When is the update of that engine scheduled? For which MY?

:t-cheers:

Re: BMW F5 Progressive Activity Sedan - spy pics & info

Don't trust AutoBild in all their information about upcoming models. My guess for next upgrade of the 3.0sd engine is 300hp and 600Nm, maybe for model year 2009 or 2010?

Oh ok, thanks for that.:usa7uh:

Re: BMW F5 Progressive Activity Sedan - spy pics & info

So, R-class SWB dimensions vs PAS dimensions:

PAS will be at least 100kg lighter
PAS will be a bit shorter (5 - 10 cm = 2 - 4 inches)
wheelbase will be almost identical
width will be very similar

but ...

PAS will be about 10 cm (~ 4 inches) lower than R-class!!!

;)

Re: BMW F5 Progressive Activity Sedan - spy pics & info

I just saw the current issue of german car magazine 'Auto Motor und Sport' on the newsstand....Didn't bother to buy it....:D

Here is a link to the cover, showing a cgi of the F5/F6 :
Heft- auto motor und sport Heft 22/2007 - auto motor und sport

Inside the magazine they show it also from the back...the cgi of the back matches very closely the X6 (design of roofline and rearlights)...they probably made a copy and paste...

Re: BMW F5 Progressive Activity Sedan - spy pics & info

Just my speculation based on Eni's info, that we shouldn't be so sure about the '5' ...and considering it will be positioned above the 5 series

We'll see...Or maybe the PAS will be called F5, while the PAC:D ;) :eusa_doh: will be called F6. (pure speculation)
