5 Series BMW 5 Series GT (aka PAS) - spy pics & info

The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured by BMW since 1972.
To understand we have to go back to the CS Concept which would have been named the GT 7 , This is the GT 5 and we will eventually see GT 3 and GT 1 family members .

BMW Concept 5er Gran Turismo is truly a BMW in the purest sense and conveys everything BMW identifies with - innovative , stylish , accomodating with a very dynamic driving experience.

Truly what is inspiring is that nobody can call it a van. Anymore...
But you will see the media comparing it to the Panamera and the R-Klasse even though we dont.

I'd still say things like the M3 CSL is BMW in its purist sense :D
BUt i guess everyone has to adapt to the new world to survive, like they can't just build 2002-typed cars forever, hope they keep their core models up as well as making these nice looking dynamic people movers.

Of course it is the CSL and not the 5 GT that is the essence of what makes a great BMW. Problem is BMW have failed to produce a viable replacement for the E46 CSL, yet. Nothing wrong with the market.

Btw, can somebody please move this thread into the 5 Series section. :t-cheers:

Here is a new pic from the F5. On that pic you can see how big the Kidney will be.

Seems like there is another prototype of this kind driving around:

Just got that pic, made in Munich yesterday:

Weiterer X1-Prototypenträger in München gesichtet?

So, again X1 front & chassis under a E91-cover?

Unfortunately, I agree. Horrid sums it up.

I just don't get this fixation on model proliferation from BMW, especially in this economy. Despite leveraging existing platforms, it has to consume valuable resources.:eusa_thin

the X5 easy, you don't want a BIG suv and the reputation it comes with.
The 5 estate is a bit more tricky, and honestly, I really don't know.

The X6 in the background tell the story clear, the PAS is an X6 wannabe gone wrong. Proportions are baaaad.

The X1 donates it's platform to the 3er GT so what you are seeing is the first engineering mules of the 3er GT as the 3er GT will offer xDrive as an option.

Thanks Scott, we did write in our article that this could be the 3er GT, but I wanted to get official confirmation. Thanks.

(flinch)

I'd like to see this in person. The front and the back look oddly matched.

Reminds me of a show I watched on the Food Channel, about the history behind Chop Suey...

For those of you who don´t like the color and the special concept "features" such as the mirrors or the rims could check out a video on the german bmw-tv webpage: BMW Deutschland : BMW Aktuell

Later on in that video a normal production model (as it seems) is shown including a normal color, normal rims and rounded exhaust tips.

IMO it looks way better than the concept.
