5 Series (E34) BMW 5 Series (E34)

The E34 is the third generation of the 5 Series, manufactured for model years 1988–1996. It was launched in the sedan body style, with the range expanded in 1990 to include the "Touring" wagon/estate body style. The E34 was the first 5 Series to be available with the wagon body style, all-wheel drive and V8 engines.
Sorry for bumping an old topic, but here's the father of the modern day M550i. Unless BMW made M performance versions of the E39, E60 and F10 that I'm not aware of it. Heck, I wasn't even aware of this one.

That 6 speed M540i E34 is probably the pick of the range, it was not much slower than the M5, I think 0-100 in 6.4sec vs 6.1sec.

Quite a different character though I'd imagine, 4 litre non-M V8 with 10% less peak power which is lower down the range than the M's I6 engine.

E12 M535i and E28 M535i were M badged models that we might consider M-performance models by current standards. F10 got an M550d but there weren't E39 or E60 models that follewed the M5xx badging.

Individual Dakar Yellow.
Suffering Succotash!!!! A Rare Bird indeed.
I prefer the pre-LCI E34. The wider grille and its backing look secondary.
@bmwindividuell.

It’s seldom rare to find Gold. Despite the tragedy that probably lies behind its ownership others will see it as scrap.
There is another You Tube video I will look for of other abandoned BMW’s found in the UK including more E34s.
Including an E34 535i another E34 M5 an immaculate 518i E34 Touring and an E36 318iS Coupe.

Looks like a nice valet or wash and wax and it would be looking good as new again.
Yes the bodywork looks immaculate. My concern would be for the tyres and internals as rubber and plastic deteriorates and any fluids lying over a long period of time contaminated.
Looks like a 1988 model.
There is probably a sad back story to all of these E34 M5’s being unearthed. But what a find.

Indeed. My E24 came out of a barn. Fluids and filters changed and mechanically it was all golden. The tyres on the other hand were not, and my back right disintegrated as I'd pulled across some cats eyes, meaning I had to change the wheel fully exposed to heavy traffic on a dual carriageway with no proper hard shoulder...

Michelin TRXs too, so replacing them at the time was about half what I'd paid for the car.

A home made E34 Coupe. Quite a good looking car . t would have been great if BMW really did build this car.
