5 Series (E34) BMW 5 Series (E34)

The BMW E34 is the third generation of the BMW 5 Series. Body styles: E34 (sedan/wagon). Predecessor: 5 Series (E28). Successor: 5 Series (E39). Production: 1987-1996.
They used to come out with lovely pleated soft leather seats not sure if they were buffalo leather but they looked and felt great to sit in.

Thanks Rolf, but this doesn't look like Buffalo leather. Somewhere I've read/heard that the first 7er (E23) already had Buffalo leather on offer.

I practically spent hours looking at every detail of this photo when growing up :) Oh memories :)

Never ever been the biggest fan of station wagons...That said, there surely is something quite appealing about that picture (as well as the E34 SW), so I could totally relate

Likely Bison leather since these interior were quite common on post-1992 e34 and BMW didn't make Buffalo interior in "silbergrau-hell" or simply light grey.

Looking at realoem, seems BMW did offer for non-M e34 either Bison or Buffalo leather.
In 09-1990 and 09-1992, BMW updated their offer with new color while other became unavailable.
The leather surface might have changed at these date also.

Yes, Executive package on e23 had Buffalo leather.
It was also available on e31 8-series and e38 7-series, the later being the last offering it.

This E34 M5 had a fantastic sounding engine, classic BMW straight six warp. In those days BMW were the kings of NA high performance engines, they were on par with Ferrari engines for Kw/Ltr specific output. When this M5 came to SA in 1990 it had these horrible looking turbine flat rims that looked like hubcaps, I think many owners changed them to these ninja star rims. The E34 is very rare now its starting to become a collector's item.

In fact both wheels design you describe are hubcaps, the rim are exactly the same between the "styling 20 - M system 1" and "styling 21 - M system 2".

Function over form: BMW M-System "Turbine" wheels

Those turbine rims would actually look really menacing with rhe silver alloy hubcap cover taken off as underneath was black 5 star rims, which would look great with the white, silver and red colors the E34 M5 mostly came in.

This white 1992 E34 M5 is currently for sale in the Autotrader in South Africa. It has black BBS style rims which truly alter the cars appearance. This example has a huge 340,000km on the clock and the owner wants R300,000 ($21600/£16900/€18900) for it which seems expensive when there are some E39 M5 going for R250k in the Autotrader also

This one looks tasty with the AC Schnitzer style deep dish wheels.

Gorgeous car, the E34 5er. And quite the immediate sales hit as well. After all, it replaced a car that was fundamentally over 15 years old. I much prefered the E34 to its' admittedly also brilliant E32 7er big brother.

The tech for this car was just insane for a 1991 ....one of the BMWs that sealed my undying love for BMW. What a special car my bio is this car.

For some reason that I don't know, of all those presented in videos and reports today, none of them have those PRE-LCI turbine wheels, which give them such a stately appearance, a shame.
I also don't remember hearing that shitty song in the 90's lol
