M3/M4 BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage - production model teased!

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
This car is a real loser since even @dalab hasn't touched on this issue.
I think that doing it on the basis of the 8 series would have given it more the elegance of the 3.0 Hommage (the correct measurements) and more in line with the original from the 70's since it is its real predecessor.

If not, the 2 series coupe really derives most clearly from the 3.0 Hommage in its profile design and would more consistently receive added accommodations.

This is a clever way of adapting a "Double Kink" required by the already existing non-classic in the M4, I consider it the best part of the car and something that they will surely use in other models as a good way to modernize the kink while keeping it classic.:

Personally,I think they should have built the body entirely bespoke like the concept as well as the interior and slammed it on the mechanicals of the M4 CSL or GT4 for more spice.
If they did that they could have even upped the price to over 1Million euros and they would still sell out. It photographs terribly but it’s M4 styling kind of conflicts with the Hommage carry overs. M4 is just too swoopy-coupe to pull off the original idea.

Agree. It's modified M4 which doesn't justify the 8-10x price. Meanwhile the Ferrari and Lamborghini one off's are genuinely entirely new bodies, making the cars unrecognisable from their donors.

Not sure about Lamorghini, but cars like the SP1/2/3 are built in 10× the volume as the 3.0 CSL, and they're still 3 times the price. I'm not saying BMW aren't rinsing it, but there's a difference in cost ammortisation between 50 and 500 units, and it won't be small.

Absolutely. Ferrari have created a brilliant illusion of exclusivity. The profit margins on the SP1/SP2 must be incredibly high - not factoring in the Ferrari models that one had to buy for the privilege of factory ordering one.

When are we going to see some road tests of this gorgeous thing? Gosh, it's perfect!
I think there'll be prettier limited edition M3/M4/M2 in the future. Perhaps not with the homage badge but they will be better looking and also have the manual gearbox.

Lambo, BMW, Porsche, Ferrari and MB are all playing the same game. With every limited edition they laugh at enthusiasts saying "omg, this will be the last manual, naturally aspired or red etc etc, I must buy one". 6-12 months later, they announce a new model that's either cheaper or better than the unicorn that they announced. :p

The epitome of this is the 911 R, followed by the 911 Touring. IMO car manufacturers will milk ICE sports cars until 2028-2029. Humans tend to want what they can't have. With ICE sports cars becoming more and more scares, demand could rise, enabling manufacturers to charge more than ever for them.

I expect there to be at least 1-2 limited edition M3/M4 announced every year until production ends. The false sense of exclusivity is appealing to new customers but also give existing owners a reason to upgrade to a new car.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
