1M BMW 1M spotted on US roads

The BMW 1 Series M Coupé (often referred to as the "1M") is the high-performance model of the E82 coupe range, sold under the BMW M performance sub-brand. While BMW naming convention would have called the car the "M1", an alternate name was chosen to avoid confusion with the BMW M1 supercar from the 1970's. Official website: BMW M

Exclusive: First BMW 1M spotted on US roads – Valencia Orange paint

what color was the car you were driving? the 1M's color in last pic looks kind of golden as if reflecting your car.

Looking at the shadows on the ground and the fact the 1M driver has the visor up to block the sun, the light is obviously coming from BEHIND the picture taker and therefore the car the picture is being taken from is NOT reflecting in the 1M. It's clear the sun is very low and shining directly onto the 1M.

The "chase car" was somewhat of a brownish color.

The Orange looks different under certain light...car wasn't also newly cleaned. It's one of those colors that can look great at times and annoying at others.

I'm still on the fence between Orange and white. Not sure which one to pick.

Thanks for the photos bmwblog! Very much appreciated.

We finally get to see this car on the road in average photos. It sure does have killer road-presence!

After seeing these photos, I think I'd opt for Alpine White... I can see that Valencia Orange loosing its novelty rather quick.

Also, how on earth is it even possible to spec this car without the xenons lights and LED corona/angel rings ? That shouldn't even be an option for an M-car.

"This particular 1M coupe is the one spotted earlier today, heading from New Jersey to Daytona, Florida to serve as the pace car for the 24 Hours of Daytona race this weekend."

Could this be the reason and its just a pre-production car

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
