ahh yes... nice

not beautiful but nice

dont like rear lights and kidney ingress into bonnet.... otherwise.... very nice

Does anyone know if this car will have the ability to vent the rear windows? I don't like how they took that away on the E92. And oh how I wish they would go back to the center mounted window controls. I miss being able to keep the left hand on the wheel at all times and not having to switch.

I don't think it's possible sadly. E63 doesn't have it and E92 doesn't have it....

That last picture of the back is already looking much much better than that blurry spy shot. It's still not too much to go on, but at least I can see the lines better now (and 3rd brake light)

Ok - I have a hot-button question for all of you:

Would BMW allow the 135i to be faster than the 335i? Would BMW purposely retard the capabilities of the 135i via gearing and ECU to prevent it from usurping the 3er's performance credentials?

My answer is why not? An 1er can be faster than a 3er like a 5er can be faster than a 6er.

Seriously speaking, the 1er coupe and the 3er coupe are totally different cars with different target groups. We can safely say that the 1er coupe is a compact coupe and has more "youth appeal", attracting more younger drivers, while the E92 is a full scale coupe and has a much wider target group.

I don't think that a possible buyer would only look on the performance figures, but would consider the size of the car, too. I can't see why, for the same money sb would choose a faster and smaller 1er, while i would go for the slower and bigger 3er and vice versa.

About the 135i vs 335i, i don't think that the first will cannibalize the sales of the second, but i also could be wrong. Just my 0.02$.

ohh new pics..clearer pics.. still my opinion is the same..

C'mon! Be serious ...

This is not a beauty contest.

We are already used to the constant bitching of BMW design.

Yet even the most criticized E65 7er is best selling 7er ever! Not despite design & iDrive, but because the design & iDrive.

It's completely ridiculous how some anonymous super-ego guys on some forums dare to claim that a specific BMW model will be a failure because they personally don't like it. :t-crazy2:

Mind ... Nobody buys an ugly car. Never. Even if it wears a BMW badge. Design is a very important factor of purchasing decision. And - believe it or not - over a 1.2 million people per year finds BMW automobiles attractive enough to buy them.

Everybody is entitled to his/her opinion about certain design, but I freak out when I hear claims like "fugly! puke! disaster! the car will be a failure. it's ugly , but stupid people will still buy it due BMW badge. ..."

Why did BMW decided to build this micro-coupe is beyond my understanding.:eusa_thin

US market is quite lucrative and many "micro" cars, such as the A3 are doing relatively well there. Everyone always wants a piece of the pie. The hatchback 1 will NOT sell in the US market regardless of performance. The US is unfortunately more image conscious than much of anything else. This move by bmw was planned years ago as the current 3 was obviously moved upmarket to make room for this car. I'm curios as to what the cycle time is in the auto industry from business plan to product offering?

This new photo makes the car look a lot better, especially in the rear to me. Granted the taillights are pretty boring, the CSL style trunk or boot as they say here with the integrated brake light is a really nice touch. I think it will look even better in real life. I still think I want 1, but M1 talk makes me a little trigger shy now.

Sure hatchbacks can be small but coupes and sedan (especially when considered Premium ones) should have adequate length/size.:t-hands:

Very well said. It's amazing the level of narcissism that abounds on forums.

I don't know about that. The definition of car genres is pretty fluid. Coupes have evolved so much. Today they can be as small as a TT or Honda civic, and as big as Merc CL63.
