BMW 1-Series Coupe Official Press Release

wow the jump from the 135 coupe to the 335 sedan is to little..i would never go for the 1er..less than 2K.. wow

Hmm, the car is starting to look good to me now. I just needed three days. Same happend with me and the E60 when it first came out. Anyway, i think that without the M package in black with aluminum around the windows would look quite cool. My only concerns are the rear lights that i still don't get, and the whole size of the car. Too small to be a coupe for me. But as a E30 or 2002 succesor, well, it is succesful!

I told you guys 1er coupe won't be cheap. :D It irritates me a lot when some people constantly fantasize about cheap / affordable BMW model.

I the the fantasy many of us had cooked up in our head was a no nonsense BMW that extracted a good dynamic advantage at a resonable price.

The issue isn't the price tag. The issue is how much BMW you're getting for your dollar. From what we've seen thus far, there's not a single compelling reason to buy a 135i over a 335i. I'm looking for a good "product story" here, and I'm not finding it.

The product story is 1) the looks 2) being the fastest non M car ever made by BMW 3) As Eni said, roughly 8500 euros cheaper than a comparable E92 with M package 4) The best driving dynamics

OK, after seeing the hi-res pics I take back everything bad I said about the car...

JUST A WARNING FELLASDEVON K is a BIG TIME HATER[/COLOR].
Wow, talk about overreacting!

I think anyone objective reading my posts on 1addicts would hardly call me a hater. Judge for yourself. Sure, I have raised the same issues over on 1addicts as I came to form these opinions (in all of about 4 posts) but also expressed the view that I hope that these issues are less intrusive IRL. People can figure out who the real hater is here I think.

I realize these are fan sites but is there no room to suggest weaknesses that need improvement in the future? A lot of folks with high expectations and hopes for this car besides myself are expressing disapointment. Take a gander at the commentary by others on more general car sites like Autoblog. I am hardly alone in pointing out areas that BMW could improve on. I may be one of few who have posted them on a BMW site but car sites for other makes can maturely handle critiques without freaking out. Let's hope BMW sites can as well.

135i is using diff (LSD) , thats not even an option for 335i. Im always hating BMW for not adding this to 335i. 135i will be the drivers car, no doubt about it. I'm predicting a time of 8.21-8.22 min around N-ring, equal to M3 E46.

The Sports Suspension also includes with a high-performance brake system incorporating six-piston fixed calipers on the front and two-piston fixed calipers at the rear.

The accelerator pedal has a quicker response rate and electronic rear brake management is used to simulate a differential lock for stronger acceleration in turns. The rear differential on the 1 Series comes from a new generation of final drives optimized for running smoothness. Featuring double-helical ball bearings for the first time, the differential runs at an even lower operating temperature reached more quickly than before thanks to the reduction of fluid required in the differential.

I think this is missing on 335i. In US Adaptive Xenon is standard on 135i, is it the same for 335i?

I don't think that hairdressers and newly divorced women need 6 piston calipers.:D

And that's why they will go for 128i /120d / 123d, and not for 135i. :D :usa7uh:
And in almost all cases for cabrio, not coupe. ;)

Actually now I do see a point in the 135i. If you are selfish and need just 2 seats, and if you're a keen driver, then there's a good chance you will opt for a 135i over a 335i. I see the 335i as being more luxurious/GT-like, while the 135i is the sports car.

Bigger is not always better. ;)

120i is a lot more fun to drive than a 320i E90. IMO 3-series isnt the best drivers car from BMW anymore.

The reason the 135i comes with an M-package is because it looks bland without. The 335i on the other hand doesn't come standard with it because it doesn't need it.

As for the 135i vs 335i debate the 1er coupe is for the boy racers who just want something compact and fun to drive while the 335i is for people who want a proper luxury BMW which also comes with good handling.

^^^ Bland is in the eye of the beholder, and I am not going to discuss looks of the 1er coupe anymore.
The M sportpackage is not just a different bumper for € 4.500. There is technical stuff too. If you want this on your 335i, the car will become a lot more expensive than the 135i. That's what I was saying.

And, J_M, nice one about the TT...I was about to reply that to Yannis as well, but I would have added the A3. I think that's a car for girls too, compared to the 1er :usa7uh: :D
