Photography Big Sam's New Porsche Taycan GTS Sport Turismo

Well done for being bold enough to choose green. It makes the car look exotic.......and is easy to spot in a parking lot from afar. Does the higher ground clearance make it easy to get in and out of?

Your C-Class is crisp in silver!

Do EVs need to be broken in?

Thanks. I love the colour. My second choice was Ice Grey metallic, but that was too much like Suzuka Grey on my R8, and it only "popped" on bright, sunny days. Mamba looks better when it's dull, which in Northern Europe is a good thing.

Maybe you're getting confused with the Cross Turismo. The Sport Turismo doesn't have the higher ground clearance the Cross Turismo has (except for the "lift" function for the PASM that comes as standard).

I wouldn’t say no if you gave it to me but it would never be my personal choice. Even though that is THE colour scheme to have the M5 CS in.
I just don’t do green cars - no offence Betty - even though for some cars green is the premier colour.

None taken. Interestingly, Mamba Green is no longer available on the Taycan, and I believe mine was built on the Thursday of the very last week it was available.

Didn’t it come in a metallic grey too?

Three colour choices were:

Brands Hatch Grey metallic
Brands Hatch Grey metallic (Frozen)
Deep Green metallic (Frozen)

Not only was it a small choice, but two of the colours were the same!

Do EVs need to be broken in?

I hope not. Three minutes after leaving the showroom I demonstrated the launch control to my wife.

The brakes need to be bedded in, and the car helps with that by disengaging the brake pedal-induced recuperation for the first 500 miles, and solely relies on the actual brake pads.

Congrats, you've got a very special GTS!

I'm also looking to get a Taycan and found a used Turbo at a good price of 95k euro but the mileage is a bit high, 73k km. How much you did on your old one, any sign of reduced range at the end?

Congratulations indeed. Having never owned a Porsche EV, is the steering feel similar to petrol vehicles? I assume yes.

@Big Sam, what made you choose the ST over the CT?

As the CT is an ST with a raised-up body that I have no need for, and with cladding that makes it look less appealing than the ST, it was never in the running. The big question was whether I went with another saloon like my first Taycan, or switch to the ST. I went with the ST for two reasons. 1) I fancied a change. 2) There's something cool about a fast "estate". In terms of looks, I think it's completely equal. I think both the saloon and the ST are very good looking, and I couldn't say which is better. At a push I'd say the ST looks "cooler".

In terms of practicality, I don't think there's much difference. Both the ST and the saloon have pretty much the same boot space, it's just that the ST has a removable parcel shelf that allows bigger items to be loaded. But to be honest, I find there's enough room for a family of four anyway.

I did 15,000km in my first Taycan over about eight months. I saw no sign of reduced range, but then eight months isn't a lot. In fact, as I collected it in winter and sold it in the summer, I actually saw increased range at the end. I was getting around 300km from a full charge in winter, and almost 400km in the summer.

The steering feel is one of the best I've had in a car. Up there with my R8. It definitely feels as if it's a relative to a Boxster, albeit a distant one.

What was her reaction? It'll be obvious but still what did she say?🙂

You weren’t per chance driving up the M1 northbound this afternoon @Big Sam / Mat?

Could only tell is was a bright green Taycan CT and model type as we were heading South.
