Best Movie of the Decade (2000's) / Best Movie of the Year 2009

I think I will go with Lord of the Rings trilogy for the best of the decade. Though I liked Crash a lot too. For the year, I haven't seen Avatar yet, so maybe it will take the cake. For now, it is StarTrek or Up! As for one of the worst, I will go with the latest Indiana Jones. I used to love the series, till the last one came out and ruined it for me.

The Dark Knight : I think it was a perfect movie, Visuals, Story, Characters, Dialogs, I never went to a movie and saw people clap I still remember going to IMAX near the Dulles airport and in the Hong Kong sequence when he jumps off the building onto the plane with the background score, everyone was clapping, and well... 10/10.

Coming back on topic some more movies that I thought of were, The Departed, The Road to perdition, Superbad, The Pianist, Casino Royale, Memento (not sure if it counts in this decade), The prestige, Sin City, Catch me if you can (simple but entertaining) , Minority Report ( Yes the movie tanked but thought it was great), Blood Diamond!

I'm not into collecting DVDs nor am I such a huge movie buff. But I can say that Christopher Nolan's modern portral of the Batman genre is by far the best and most true-to-type of the concept. Tim Burton's wacky art-goth themes were overly frivolous and lacked the gravitas of a true Batman story. Joel Schumacher's lurid, day-glo, schmaltz was an injustice.

I have both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight on DVD because Nolan's interpretation of the caped crusader, Gotham (Chicago was brilliantly, yet subtly, enhanced for its role as Gotham, klier) and most importantly - the villains - is best of the theme yet.

As a South African I am also particularly pround that SA made a film as good as District 9.
