From a technical standpoint the Veyron is the undisputed champion of the world none of these cars can hang really. I recently saw a red one near my house and even though it garnered much attention,and had that definite "wow" factor,it still appeared a bit bloated kind of like a bodybuilder during his off season.

The Aventador is the perfect example of what a super car should look like,I can't think of anything nicer looking at moment. The One-77 was ruined by it's front end and is probably the only Aston Martin I wouldn't consider being that good looking. Every time I see a pic of it I think bad photo shop. The Ager R,and Huayra really doesn't appeal to me,and probably never will.

If this was a poll on which one to own then Lambo would be my choice more often than not. If there's only one that can occupy the throne then the Super Bug wins hands down. Engine size,horsepower,price,and straight line performance is in a league of it's own.
 
I got my Evo magazine with Huayra on the cover. Some interesting little tidbits about the engine that I gleaned from it.

Huayra's transmission weighs 54 kg less than 458's DCT. Anyone know what 458's transmission weigh? I know Aventador's transmission weighs only 70kg.

Huayra's engine and transmission together weigh 395kg vs 303kg for Aventador's engine and transmission together. But Huayra's handles 300 lbft more torque so I guess it is not too bad. But on the disappointing side, it only revs to 6000 rpm.

There is also a note from Pagani's test driver where he states initial test engines were too aggressive cause C9 was much lighter than an AMG car, so AMG had to put smaller turbos to make it smoother.
 
Unlike the Veyron which also does rev that high but it had other headline figures to take your mind off the little revs it was doing, plus it didn't had a previous model that did rev like a proper supercar, Pagani have f***ed up, I don't care how much quicker it will be because in my opinion all the passion will die with the Zonda. The Aventador is the only true supercar out of these that is still sticking to the traditional values but it still doesn't deserve the throne because that belongs to the Bugatti, it doesn't beat the rest, it smashed them and it's the only car that properly beat the McLaren F1.

Yes the Aventador is really a fantastic ride and I do think it looks better in the looks (exterior) department compared to the Bugatti. It's just that the Bugatti's magnificent power just put it above the Aventador.

My vote is shared between the Veyron and Aventador. The Veyron is like a the most expensive ready-meal money can buy. It's quick to heat in the oven, contains every meat, vegetables, carbs and anything you could even wish a meal to offer you. The Pagani is comparably a freshly cocked meal at a small Italian restaurant. It may not offer the best value for money but it's exquisite and the ingredients tastes like they've been hand picked with care.

Both cars are magnificent in their own right but the Pagani has that extra exclusive touch that makes it a treasure.

Well, it is same redline as the SL65 BS V12. I know Pagani says the engine is new and the engine even has it's own part number - M158. And I am sure the engine has lot of modifications done like new smaller turbos like the test driver said, but I doubt it is completely new either. The displacement is exactly the same - 5980cc. Once we know more details about the Huayra engine like the bore and stroke we should know for sure.

I found out the weight of the Huayra's Xtrac transmission - 212 lbs or 96kgs.

So here are the engine and transmission weights
Engine Transmission
Huayra - 299kg 96kg
Aventador - 234kg 70kg
458 - ? 150kg

Any one know the figures for MP4/12c or for that matter any other cars?

Another interesting weight comparison - Aventador's CF monocoque weighs 147.5 kgs vs <80 kgs for the MP4-12c's CF tub. Of cousre the diff is Aventador has a true cf monocoque with roof and pillars, while MP4-12c is just a cf tub.

With respect to the gearbox weight of the 458, consideration must be given to the fact that the entire drivetrain (twin-clutches, twin shaft gearbox and rear electro-mechanical differential is housed in a single casing thus accounting for why it's so much heavier.

The Aventador's gearbox doesn't include any differentials (even the centre diff is located on the front axle) in its slim casing and I'm certain that it's this alone that they're using for their gearbox weight.
 
I think the picture we are getting from all this available data of these supercars is that they all are cutting edge in terms of technology and while one might seem better in one area there is another better at something else.

Good point. That is the problem with all these parts weights that manufacturer's put out there, you have no clue what is included and what is not.

Huayra is becoming a close 2nd to the Bugatti for me - especially after seeing that red-black two-tone scheme shown at Geneva.
 
Yea, the Huayra is looking like a better option. VW empire still has it on lock for me with the Veyron based on power and Aventador with the look.
