In today's new AutoZeitung:

BMW M4 Coupé vs Audi RS5 Coupé

Weight:....1615 kg..........1788 kg
Performance Data:
0-40 km/h:....1,4 s..........1,2 s
0-100 km/h:...4,2 s..........4,3 s
0-160 km/h:...8,5 s..........9,3 s
0-200 km/h:...12,9 s........14,5 s

Laptimes Nürburgring GP:.........1.38,9 min..........1.41,5 min (M4 is 2.6 sec. faster !!)
Slalom (18m): 70,8 km/h..........67,5 km/h

Braking (100-0 km/h, warm):....33,3 m..........32,8 m

Fuel Consumption:.....11,9 l/100 km..........13,8 l/100 km

Rating: M4: 2915 points
RS5: 2837 points

M4 wins because of his better Safetyequipment (+19 points), the better Driving Comfort (+26 points),
much less fuel consumption (+36 points), the much better handling (Laptime: +10 points, Slalom: +16 points, steering: +6 points), and the slightly fewer costs (+3 points)

I hope, someone is able to post the scans (I don't have a scanner).

0-200 km/h in 12,9 sec, quicker than M5 E60 and just one 1 sec slower than M5 F10 (compare to previous AZ times). right Dede?

AZ measured M5 F10 with 11,7 sec from 0-200 km/h once ago, but my opinion is that, just like the M5, the new Turbo-engines of BMW are more powerful than claimed.

Yes, but according to BMW the M4 was supposed to have the same 0-1000m time of 21.9s as the F10M, so this M4 time is slower than I expected.

The RS5 took a beating in nearly every category.
Major victory for the M4 in this test. Impressive to say the least...

Anyone know how long the track configuration they tested on was?

Hopefully the upcoming Supertest (June 13) will tell us the true power of the M4. :)

What's up with the brakes on the M4? It's 173 kg lighter yet the brakes are worse?

Ceramics a must have?

True, but this is just poor imo. Ceramics are a must then, adding a lot of $$$....

Both RS5 and M4 were using ceramic brakes in this test. CB isn't only about short brake distance, they last longer and free from brake fade, quieter than normal brakes. The reviews been positive regarding the ceramic brakes so I wouldn't not call them weak.

Btw the brake difference is 50 cm LOL

I would also like to know that because the times look too fast for the 3.7 and too slow for the 3.1km version.

Since the previous M3 won most comparisons against the RS5 what were you expecting? I wouldn't describe this as a major victory, there were some disappointing numbers for the M4:
0-100kmh was slower than BMW Official time when RS5 was faster than its official time in the same conditions.
Inferior braking results compared to (old & heavy) RS5
0-200kmh time was 1.2s slower than the F10M

The only impressive bit is that the Lap time is much faster than the RS5 but then so was the E92... And until we find out which nurburgring gp track length they used its hard to gauge exactly how good the lap time really is.

^Agree, about lap time. I am curious which one it is. Both sound improbable. If it is 3.1km, it is significantly slower than a S6 and I doubt that. And if it is 3.7km, it is faster than GT2 RS, which sound equally unlikely.

Disagree about straight line, I think the straight line numbers are bloody impressive. 0-160 is a half a sec faster and 0-200 almost a sec faster than C63 Black Series tested here - http://www.germancarforum.com/commu...z-c63-amg-black-series-aero-track-pack.41660/ and here -

Perhaps my expectations were higher than most? BMWs press releases managed my expectations upwards!

^Yea, I don't know what BMW claimed, but I never expected it to be as fast as M5 considering M3s have never been as fast as the same gen M5s in a straight line.
