Comparison tests AZ: BMW M4 Coupé vs Audi RS5 Coupé

True, but this is just poor imo. Ceramics are a must then, adding a lot of $$$....

Ceramics are not good either. Too expensive if you track your car. Good steal brakes give better feel and are more responsive IMO.
I'd suggest getting some great aftermarket steal brakes and changing the brake fluid.

No info about the length of the track... But, they say that 7900 rpm is possible with the M4, despite factory's claim of 7600 rpm limiter. :)

Yes Ace I think your expectations regarding acceleration is too high. They are better than I thought, I was more into 13,5-13,8 seconds.

Regarding braking they find the brakes in M4 to have better feel and feedback than the CB brakes found in Rs5. Also I would like to know how the brake distance is for 911 with CB, I dont think its shorter than 30 meters?

^Agree, about lap time. I am curious which one it is. Both sound improbable. If it is 3.1km, it is significantly slower than a S6 and I doubt that. And if it is 3.7km, it is faster than GT2 RS, which sound equally unlikely.

We have to remember all these cars were tested in different times and conditions could be different. I don't even know if it's the same driver. These laptimes isnt 100% scientific. We only know that M4 and RS5 was tested the same day, its the only fair and correct comparison we can be sure of.

This test shows how much its necessary for Audi get the next RS4/5 into production. Its replacement needs to lose almost 200kgs to be competitive and I just can't see that happening.

But it will have 4WD, which some value.

True and it would sway me if it's outright performance was close but as it stand the current RS5 massively outgunned and far too thirsty.

P.S.
Considering the RS5 is geared higher due to it's higher revving NA engine I'm shocked to see how much noisier the M4 is especially since it's turboed which should reduce the engine noise, I wonder has it's weight reduction come at the expense of sound deadening.

I am not talking about a track car. Ceramics are a must have for street use.

No surprise here,,the RS5 is a old ass car by now, and the BMW is brand new.. also BMW kind of owns this segment..

Things will be interesting with the new C63 new RS5 and M4..

^well its already lighter than the RS5 at 1730kg.. but i doubt they will be able to shed 100kg off it..

I expect it to be around 1700kg.. but then again it will probably have shitload more torque than the BMW and HOPEFULLY a new gearbox.. also 4matic..

Should be a tight battle, but still i expect the M4 to be faster around the track, but the C63 more fun to drive as the previous generation:)

I agree, except for the more fun part. Fun is subjective, I for instance have most fun with tight handling. And the C63 is a rather blunt instrument (which is of course much fun in it's own way).

Wow the M4 is fast from 0-160 and 0-200, I didn't expect it too be this quick considering it only has 317kW!!! Maybe it is 371kW true power!!!

I think AMG will drop at least 100kg from the official mass of the C63, maybe 1630kg as the new C-Class is at least 100kg lighter than previous one and this new model will have a much smaller capacity engine than previous model. I think it will have about 700nm of torque and about 350kW. 0-100 in 4.0sec, 0-200 in 12.5sec

I'd still take steal brakes for road usage.
I do agree tho that as strange as it may sound CB are more suitable for road usage than track usage when you take money into account.
They can last a really long time on the road... which is not the case on a track :)

Yes Ace I think your expectations regarding acceleration is too high.

BMW quoted:
M3 F80 (DCT) vs M5 F10
0-100km/h 4.1s vs 4.3s
0-1000m 21.9s vs 21.9s

This created the impression in my mind that the F80 M3 would be ahead off the mark and would only be caught at around 1000m. There must be some strange interactions of acceleration, velocity (including speed limiters) and distance going on here because it looks to me like the F80 M3 will be left behind long before 1000m based on the AZ acceleration times.
