Audi’s latest cabriolet is a classy and refined addition to the drop-top executive ranks. Its good looks, luxury cabin and spacious rear seats all appeal, while the flagship diesel powerplant provides effortless cruising ability. But in this trim, it is just too expensive. The 168bhp 2.0-litre TDI, due this summer, promises much broader appeal.

To have this with the S-tronic gear box let alone the quattro system is 40grand...A base S5 coupe is 40grand!
