Why compare a mondeo to a 3er or any other premieum cars? I see the mondeo more of a Honda Accord/Toyota Camry competitor, in which case it beats both of them (at least in looks). I think ford is pretty f__king stupid for not brining the Mondeo to the US yet giving us the POS Fusion and Taurus.

Because they offer something close to what premium cars offer, but at a lower price. It's like saying, why compare a Passat and a 3er? I would. I do remember an Australian test where a Accord beat a 3er.

I believe it's part of the problem Top Gear has with the 3 series outselling the Ford. They mentioned it all the time, saying it deluted the brand and couldn't believe it since the 3 series is more expensive; Brittains do have something against germany and BMW, especially now that Brittish car industry isn't worth shit and Brittain is BMW's third biggest market.

Brits love germans cars. Everyone asprires to get a bmw, audi mb or porsche.

The ford focus being a good handler and class leader of dynamics I dont believe though. Me and my friend occasionally race each other and hes always complaining how crap the MK2 focus is compared to the 1st gen.

German Autobild compared the new Mondeo to a Passat. The Mondeo beat the Passat with 2 points.
The Mondeo was more fun to drive, better driving dynamics.

In handling one point better for Mondeo than Passat but same points as Opel Vectra.

Travelling comfort: one point extra for Mondeo
Brakes a lot better for Mondeo

Two points is a really marginal difference , wait once the Mondeos start braking down and the interior falls into pieces and then we will see which is the best car.

Actually the Taurus has been discontinued since 2005 but it might be coming back. The Fusion IMO looks quite good and even better than the Mondeo offered in Europe.

do you remember the Ford FiveHunder? They changed the name of that car to Taurus, in essence the Taurus is back. LOL

check it out on ford's website, they're calling it Taurus.

As for Fusion vs. Mondeo. IMO the Mondeo has a good exterior but the interior is years ahead of the Fusion.

Yeah quite lame of Ford to just re badge the whale Five hundred to a Taurus.
Exterior wise I think Fusion is better but interior wise I agree Mondeo wins.

Passat is still the best car on the segment and the best seller in Germany. Mondeo seems like a good car but i 'm sure that Ford did again what they are very good at....

I have read this autocar issue, before the comparison of the Mondeo to the 3er, there's one between it and the passat. They say the Mondeo is better, much more fun on B roads, and quieter on the motorway!

I read the review when they said the Mondeo was better than the 3er, although I'm still unsure why they said that!
