Sachsenring laptimes @4 Degrees C:
1:40,40 min - Peugeot RCZ R
1:40,85 min - Porsche Cayman PDK

Again: WTF!!!

The Peugeot is even faster 0-200 km/h  And the flexibility is far superior being a turbocharged engine....crazy stuff.

This should have been the 208 GTI...nobody wants an RCZ

Unfortunately for Peugeot, a Seat Leon Cupra would probably beat both these cars handily, whilst costing several grand less than the Pug. The Porsche will always sell due to its image. So, nice try but no cigar.

The specially developed Goodyear tyres for the Peugeot also probably play a large part in the surprising laptime result.

With that semi-slick-hardcore-pack the Cupra would be close to the RCZ R at Sachsenring, maybe a little faster. Without that option I highly doubt that it would beat even the new Golf R (1:41,7 min). We'll see soon.

I had those Goodyear on my previous car. So how are they specially developed for Peugeot?

You must be nuts to choose a 208 GTI over a RCZ!! The RCZ is a much better looking car, the nicest Pug in the current line up!!

The Pug is flipping quick to 200km/h!!! I am surprised it is that quick, not too far behind the more powerful Golf R!!

It's far behind the Golf R - and by "far" I mean 1,8 seconds to 0-200 km/h (19,6 vs 21,4 s).

Question - how reliable are a Peugeot these days? in the past they were horrible, like any french car.

Yes, a Cupra that doesn't exist would probably do just that, just like it scattered the FWD 'ring pissing contest.

I've driven 208 GTI, can't say I enjoyed it and steering wheel is ridiculous small. Hope rcz is better.

BTW, for the record, I wouldn't choose either 208, 308 or RCZ. Don't want a Peugeot. But from those three, the RCZ is the best driving by a mile, I just wish Peugeot made their hot hatches drive like the RCZ R. That's what I was trying to say...

So a Peugeot is faster around a track than a Porsche...

... No, really, who?

I know when I owned the Jaguar I got Jag spec rubber and the same was true for the Porsches. I'm sure you could get the normal version of the same tyre but there were exact spec ones available that were developed for them so it's possibly true for the Peugeot.

We are just questioning Porsche efforts here. Seems weird that a car with the most perfect balance in the world, beatin by a FWD french car :D
