Smart move by MB to give Autobild the sportversion (AMG-kit) of the new C-class and a bad move by BMW to give Autobild a 3-series without the M-package.
I also hope its Audi with a Quattro being tested.

My predictions:
1. C350
2. A4
3. 330i
(Audi will be the pricewinner)

Isn't "AMG-Kit" just the Avantgarde version of the C-Class? I don't know if the C-Class will actually come out on top, give the 3-Series performance capabilities and the value of the A4. This should be a close comparo since all 3 cars are solid performers.

yet it is. Makes the car sportier and with stiffer suspension than the Elegance version. AMG-kit isnt available for Elegance version, only the Avantgarde.

I would like to read a duel between Elegance and Avantgarde to hear about the differences.

Where's the 335i? I guess Autobild wan't to give MB & Audi a chance.

Yep the 335i is too much of an animal.

Yet the most important market for C350 will be US, and there only 335i is available.

Mind that Europe likes diesel engines and low-end petrol engines more. High-end petrol engines are very rare here.

BMW's still producing 330i's? I thought they replaced that with a 328....

In NA -> 328i (230 hp, 2.996 L)

In Europe -> 325i (218 hp, 2.5 L)
In Europe -> 330i (272 hp, 2.996 L)

No it isn't. the AMG-kit is still an option you can order for an extra charge.
Mercedes is presenting the AMG-kit as the avantgard version.. which is a really uncool move:eusa_thin

On the left side the "real" Avantgard:

I doubt they picked the C350 for the win because of the sports package and the lack of the sports package on the others. The C-Class probably won because it was the most balanced of the trio. :usa7uh:

I also doubt the European C350 will do 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds like the American version, so it should be pretty dead on with the 330i.

The article isn't online yet, so I guess we'll have to wait...

isnt the 325i a 3.0 litre with an N52 or is that different as well?

European 325i features 2.5L N52 I6 engine(218HP), while NA markets got 325i with detuned 3.0L N52 I6 engine (215hp). While both regions got 3.0L N52 engine in 330i (which is now also featured in 328i with 240hp).

In all other markets except NA 335i is only an additional model to the existing model line (incl. 325i & 330i), while in NA 335i replaced 330i. Also 328i is an exclusive NA model. While other markets still offer 325i (218HP), 330i (272HP) & 335i (306HP) - metric HP!

:t-cheers:

MB probably want to score points in the handling department thats why they send a C-class with a AMG kit for this test.

My bet is that 9/10 tests between the germans, the C-class will be using the AMG-kit and the others wont have M-kit or S-line. :(

hey guys
The AMG kit is only apparance..
the performance part comes from various extras..or Avantgarde..
to my knowledge the AMG treatment is only cosmetic

I have to admit that he C class looks much better than the other two in that pic.:D

At least the A4 is getting replaced very soon and the new model will fix that.:cool:

Check on MB's site. You can choose to get the AMG kit on almost any Benz. It is really just opitcal for people who want their Benz to look a bit more edgy.

There is also an AMG sports package, which includes striking front and rear aprons plus side skirts, 17 inch six twin-spoke AMG wheels, as well as large, perforated front brake discs with aluminum brake calipers, and a modified intake for a sportier engine note.

Then I got fooled at the premiere of the C-class.

so there is no difference between Elegance and Avantgarde, just the design. Damn, I had no clue at all...

Supposedly the "real" Sport Pack will be available for 2009 models, at least in the U.S.
