Hot! Audi: What's Next?

Trending discussions, standout car designs, major automotive developments, industry shifts, reviews, and topics generating strong community interest.
Over the years, you've criticized Mercedes for things like: the lack of a gear knob, screens without visors, fully digital driver and passenger displays, and others. BMW eventually adopted all of these features. Now they don't even have an iDrive button. Looking at the current situation, you should be open to criticism. I've criticized many things Mercedes has done. I've never seen you criticize BMW in any way.
Did I criticize Mercedes for not having a gear knob? Furkan, what planet are you living on? As if you have criticisms towards Mercedes? You acted like you didn't like the facelifted S-Class at first, then when the facelifted 7 Series was introduced, you kept posting about how amazing the S-Class is.

Didn't you criticize BMW countless times on Donanım Haber Forum for offering both electric and internal combustion engine versions in the same car, and defend that EQ series was the right approach? Don't you criticize every new BMW model that's launched, then share Mercedes photos and talk about how beautiful they are?

Now you're saying here that you've criticized Mercedes many times? Come on, everyone knows you. The people on Donanım Haber Forum already know you well, and you're well-known here too. You and your 3-5 sidekicks are just playing music for yourselves and dancing to it.

Do the people here know about the Donanımhaber forum? Who cares? This is childish and pathetic behavior. Also, why do you keep mentioning my name and making personal attacks? You're an expert at hiding yourself, but you put a lot of effort into exposing others. Will you tell us your name, Mr. McLaren?

There's another person like you. They got banned from here, came back with another account, and are about to be banned again. Nobody is my accomplice. Stop provoking people.

All of those new ones look horrible. We don’t even have to go back for generations, just look at how much better these look, sigh.

I mean really, according to who? Fully subjective. Some people just prefer the non-flashy, somewhat “boring” designs. It all comes down to their taste.
Plus, while that 7er was the most plain looking, it also had the best build quality, so… Pointless argument.

I fully agree with you (y)

But I guess the new ones are 200€/car cheaper to produce.

For the bean counters that’s a big difference.
Would these companies really go broke if they decide to build cars with good build quality & impressive interiors with no screen bezels?

Because i got no idea what they are cost-cutting for right now.

Nope, they could charge 1k more instead and nobody would bother about that.

But they’re too smart to understand this.

Cadillac is making gorgeous upholstered and nearly bezel-free interiors (albeit, slightly busy looking) but high quality nonetheless, under 100k pricepoint

You can very quickly find the cost cutting in a Cadillac interior as soon as you enter the rear of the car. Hard plastics everywhere the eye can see.

Perhaps you may be right. I have not been in the rear.

At least in the front row, the Optiq (Q4 competitor) and Vistiq (EQE/iX competitor) felt extremely high quality for the respective segments.

Optiq had "alternative" materials as opposed to hard touch plastic in the Q4, and more soft touch surfaces as well. Vistiq has plentiful leather and metal and wood finishes. And the bezelless screen is gorgeous.

I dont understand merc and bmw passanger screen that face more upward than towards the passanger like in audi and Porsche..very uncomfortable to use since you have to lean when use it

Isn't the purpose it this segment utilitarian e.g transport 6-7 full sizes adults or 4 with full sized suitcases and carry ons?

To some extend sure, but it first and foremost is supposed to be a luxury vehicle. It's not solely aimed at soccermoms with a rich sugardaddy.

Maybe it’s just me but everything below A8, S and 7 are premium not luxury. Even the X7 to me feels more like an X5 than 7 and the GLS doesn’t step up quality over the GLE.

I'm not too familiar with Benz options but I would say it depends on how the car is equipped.

The outgoing C8 A6 with Bang&Olufsen advanced, Extended leather dash with the nicer massage seats, soft close doors, etc was a VERY nice sedan. IIRC, the G30 5er had similar options available too that were lost with the G60.

I agree, If you want a luxurious 7 seater the LWB Range Rover is exactly where the GLS and X7 should be.

Will Audi Give The TT Revival A Gas Engine? We Asked The CEO
Carbuzz

Enthusiasts are loving the EV turnaround right now. Brands that once declared their commitment to going all-electric by the end of the decade are now developing new V8s and shoehorning them into anything that'll fit. Porsche has declared it will look at new sports cars above the 911 with combustion power and re-engineer the planned-to-be-electric 718 Cayman/Boxster twins to accommodate combustion engines.

But what about Audi? The R8 is dead and gone, as is the TT, but the Concept C sports car is alive and well, with company bosses saying from day one that it was a manifesto for a roadgoing production model rather than inspiration to be left in a museum. The problem is that Concept C shares the EV bones of the planned electric 718. So with automakers pivoting to combustion once more, is Audi going to follow suit? That's what we asked Audi CEO Gernot Döllner during a recent media roundtable in Munich.

When asked by media in attendance whether Audi has plans to continue its EV strategy, Döllner admitted that the one-size-fits-all philosophy Audi was working on a few years ago is no longer viable, and that different regions will require different vehicles. "We will see European and Chinese market dominated by battery electric vehicles," Döllner explains, "and with the changes of the past two years, we see the US, for the next 10 years, at least, being dominated by combustion engine and hybrids."

Audi's hybrid lineup has been slim thus far, but Döllner admits flexibility is key, and it's something Audi has thanks to its place within the broader VW Group.

Audi Open To Combustion Sports Cars, But The Definition Is Loose
Sadly, that stunning concept is going to remain electric, confirmed Döllner. "Asking for that specific model, it will definitely be battery-electric only. We are not thinking about flexibility [for that model] because the global volume we are planning for [it] is quite small." But despite this, he sees a future for Concept C, or C-Sport as it's referred to internally, in the US.

When asked openly whether Audi might leverage Lamborghini underpinnings, like the 10,000-rpm V8 in the Temerario, Döllner simply laughed, telling us that "it's a great engine in the Temerario; 10,000-rev bi-turbo, really outstanding engine." That's not a no, but it's certainly not a yes, either. We can only live in hope.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
