Hot! Audi: What's Next?

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
Difference will be easy to tell due to the sheer mass and raised roof rails of Q9. New Q7 looks awkwardly short while the Q9 looks to be "the right size" they will both have the same ugly front end though.
It's not just a matter of size. The Q7 and Q9 share a very similar front end. The X5 and X7 are completely different, and this will be the case with their new generations. But the front design of the Q7 and Q9 is almost identical. Therefore, someone seeing it from the front wouldn't be able to easily tell whether it's a Q7 or a Q9.

Yes but I'm saying if you look at them side by side the size will be the giveaway that one is a Q9

Every new Audi model we see this year, including the A2 e-Tron, Q7 and Q9 are going to be the ugly old design language.

The trailing edge of the Marc Lichte design paradigm. "Ugly" is in the eye of the beholder. "Old" is undeniable. IMHO, "stale" fits appropriately. "Radical Next" cannot come soon enough.

I agree it's better than those, but it still falls short for me.
Given that its sibling, the liftback, seems to have failed in China, I wonder how this will fare.

Yep-strong start for the SAIC AUDI E5 Sportback...that fizzled-out very quickly. IMHO, the E7X being an SUV should fare a bit better.

Its clearly stated by Audi that "The decision on an A8 successor has been taken and we intend to present it towards the end of this decade." As far as i know, there is no A8 by SAIC AUDI.The PPC platform is there...probably the same engines from next Q7/Q9...so they clearly dont take it from scratch so it would be ashamed not to do another flagship A8
Bug again, its only one source

However, there is innuendo that SAIC AUDI will present an E segment, circa 5000mm long 2 1/2 box BEV or REEV 4 door sedan concept sometime within the course of the next 12 some months.
Even the A6 now has 5mm long, the cars are getting too big every generation... Do you know if that is only for the Chinese market ?
Or it will make the same course as Byd, Geely, Zeekr etc?

Do you know if that is only for the Chinese market ?

Should the rumoured concept actually materialize and the public's reception of it, including the international automotive press, be favourable, it may be exported to selected Asian and central/eastern European markets. Of course, all nothing more than conjecture at this point.

Is Audi taking a different approach and the Audi Q9 will just be a LWB version of the Q7 but with a new name? Maybe some cost cutting as both BMW and Mercedes use different bodyshells for their flagship SUVs compared to X5/GLE.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
