Looking for a twist on coupes?

Sounds like Trinity is moving toward an SUV shape, which would have nothing to do with the EQS as it comes in SUV form as well.
It would seem incredible to me that they didn't know that..... (changing the type of vehicle so late in the project), could they be so distracted managing something so big and important?

Audi needs a new look. Over the past ten years almost every single one of their concepts has looked the same e.g larger single frame grille + forever slimming headlights.

It‘s become the most uninteresting brand. Even Volvo, Kia and Hyundai bring more heat to the market.

I’d love an electric TT but that’s not gonna happen - 2 door cars are bad business

I've been VERY disappointed with Audi's design language since 2015-2022 as most models look incredibly boring and dull (minus the C8 A/S/RS6).

That said, I have VERY high hopes for the PPC models coming, given they won't be getting the split headlight treatment of the PPE models. More aggressive and sharp headlights along with smaller singleframe grilles is a plus in my book!

I was reading some sale figures for the e-tron GT in Europe compared to the Taycan. Basically, Porsche sells 3 times more Taycans only in Europe, both in 2021 and 2022.

It begs the question of whether VAG is positioning Audi in the right market spot. They seem to insist in position Audi as something that it simply is not. They are not able to compete with the sportcars of Porsche, nor the top luxury models are able to sell anywhere near as MB and BMW.

With VW and Skoda being the cheaper brands of the group, why not focus Audi as a premium SUV manufacturer? After all, the Q3, Q5, Q7, Q8... All are great cars with good sale figures.

2022 in Holland:

720 Taycan
153 e-tron GT

e-tron being cheaper too.
I do see a few Taycans in Madrid almost every week. But I believe I have only seen 1 lonely e-tron GT.

Caveat for the Tycan vs Etron debate:

Some customers will buy a Tycan just to climb up the priority order for a GT4, GT3, Macan GTS or other highly in demand Porsche.

I'm really digging the design of the Audi - my favorite EV at the moment. If I was about to buy a BEV, I would take in an instant. Such a shame it doesn't sell that good.
Sums up a lot of expactations that Audi is losing in sales continuously.

Difficult to explain, Audi has a much larger world distribution than Porsche, in addition to being as attractive as the Tican, and also having the same chassis, I don't know about the price issue but it will be that Audi is not as cheap as it should be to compete with his more premium brother ?

When I was with my A6 at the dealership in Norway, I asked how the sales of E-tron GT were going. Sales rep replied: "it's not going well. We aren't moving many of these."

Guess we know why now...

The thing is, there a pice point from which people simply go to more premium brand. Probably the reason why BMW has not launched a supercar in ages, why pay a super premium price for a BMW when you can buy a 911, a Ferrari or a Lambo? Guess the same logic applies here. For the price tag, people don't see why buy an Audi instead of a Porsche.

And seeing how the A8 is not seeling a thing neither, I believe Audi should stop with the Q8 and don't move further upmarket.

So the E-tron and the Taycan cost more or less the same?
So the mystery of why is over...

This is what the E-tron will become, I think it's a bet with possibilities, Peugeot, Citroen, Toyota with the Crown,............ it seems to have 4 doors coupe but I don't know maybe it's just two, BMW should revive the X coupe, transforming the 6gt in something like that?
Few days to see it....

There is some EQS in that rear, (hopefully not too much when revealed), if they went ahead and did it (copied), so thinking it would hit they were wrong.

Tough to say. In Spain, Audi sells two versions of the e-tron. One for €106k and the RS for €146k. The Taycan starts at €91k but goes up to €191k.

Sure, but the main problem for this Audi is that it's not an Audi, but a rebadged Porsche. Why get the Audi then?
And actual self made Audi original car in this price range would do much better I suspect.

The R8 in both gens did fairly well and that car is mad expensive. Much, much more so than the e-tron GT, while being less useful

Did it? Honest question here. Cause based on what I have seen on the streets, I would have thought the second gen has been bar behind the first one sales wise.

the e-tron desperately needs an Avant model, at a guess 2/3's of the Taycans I see where I live are sport turismos, Audi are strong in the stationwagon market, I hardly ever see an A4 or A6 sedan almost all are Avants, I think the same would be true of the e-tron.

Well, I don't have the numbers but I do know it's like extremely expensive. Over here the quattro version has a base price north of 300k Euro (!!) for the V10.
Probably more expensive than anything BMW has. And on level with MB's most expensive.

I just specced an R8 for 370.000 Euros on the configurator, LOL.

That's nuts, it's literally about half the price over here. I see a BMW XM starts from 'only' €175,000 so you've got well over €100,000 difference there, when here they're about the same price.

RAI seem to require a login now to access Dutch sales figures, but the last one I posted was Oct YTD, at which point Audi had sold one R8 over there.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
