I can't wait to see and drive the RS5 here in the U.S. I hope I can wait for it to arrive so I can compare it back to back with the M3.

If they would have put the V8 in the S5 Cabrio it would have made the perfect replacement for my car. Oh well.

Will the V8 in the S5 Coupe also get replaced by the supercharged V6 with this upcoming facelift?
 
If that's what you seek then you're best bet is RS version.

There may be a change of plans for the RS, not sure if that would be a good daily driver. I may go with the S5 pre or post facelift afterall. Not sure yet, gotta see how some things develop.

Well S5 facelift will change to a 3.0T. The RS5 should do well for a daily driver it's mpg is on par,if not slighty less than the S5 4.2FSI.
 
If I only knew when all this was going to happen. I guess its safe to assume the facelift isn't happening for the 2012 model year. So we're talking next spring/summer for the 2013 model year in the U.S. I guess.

We can in all likelihood expect the series II A5 successor to be introduced in Europe in summer or fall of 2014. Expect a car far lighter than the current model. And as there is great potential for performance upgrades of the 3.0 V6 TSFI-400+ HP, I suspect that a V8 will no longer be available on any A5/S5/RS5 models. Perhaps the upcoming 4.0 TSFI V8 will be limited to Audi models A6/S6 und upwards.
