A (very good) friend of mine who has an 2003 VX 220, took the new S3 for a test-drive and he came back disappointed. I asked him why he was so underwhelmed and then he replied me with with a rather upset voice tone:
"F****** turbo-lag ruins the whole car!"

So I guess all the reviews were right, the S3 indeed suffers of an awful load of turbo-lag; one has to wonder how badly the turbo-lag in TT-S will be as it is even more powerful than the S3.


Definitely the S5.

Money no object (or if someone else is paying) then S5 of course, but the S3 has a lot to commend it if you want 'S' car performance but live in rip-off Britain where 98 is around £1.15 a litre and a V8 is out of the question.
