A6/S6/RS6 Audi RS6 to outpunch BMW M5

580 PS is not that much over its rivals as in previous generations. It´s true this time the car doesn´t come that late. 600 PS is the round number to me. Not to mention this is probably the first time Audi manages to create a beautiful A6, thus the RS6 should be a nice attemp.

I doubt 600hp would be needed unless it continued to weigh excessively more than its rivals. The good thing is weight distribution shouldn't be as big a problem as in the past.

I know this sounds extremely early to suggest possible pricing for a car this isn't officially showing to the public but on having a chat with one of the sales staff their thinking is the RS6 will be priced similar to the last one which I think I recall was £76K. If correct this means it will be more competitive against the M5 than ever before.

I think this whole thread is pointless.
The headline is just teasing for a lot of people. By reading that, you know this thread is gonna be a lot of BS and bad words.
Let's just wait until the RS6 drops, aight?

^I get the point you are making, all this is hearsay and until Audi official release some info why discuss it, but just look at the thread for the M3, 1266 replies with no real hard evidence.

The whole point of forums is to discuss/debate any info on future models no matter how small, even when that info isn't official.

It may have a bigger punch but can it knock out the M5.
I think the memory of the RS5 v M3 results are still fresh in our mind.
It may end up needing the bigger punch just to hang on through the bout.

^The RS5 is grossly over weight compared to the M3 and without checking I reckon it's 30hp advantage still left it trailing the M3 in power to weight ratio, so less punch and more weight to control in the corners plus braking made it an uphill struggle which it for the most part achieved no small thanks to its incredible awd system, this time round I don't think anyone is expecting it to weigh too much more than the M5. This time the power advantage (if true) should benefit it more.

What ever happens out of the blocks will have less bearing on the result than its handling which should be significately better than before.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
