.......and probably way more lag. BMW's M department the best performance engines south of Ferrari. Audi would impossibly be able to rival the exquisite power plants found in the M3 or M6 without starting from a clean slate.

Supercharged engines don't suffer from lag like turbocharged ones. They have other issues, but not lag.

It would take a hell of a re-worked version of the S4's V6 to compete with the M3, C63 etc. I don't see them doing that IMO.

Which brings us back to the price issue. The S4 is already very close to the M3 and C63.

Eating into part of the HP they help make is one of them.

But in all honesty, the Turbo vs. Supercharged argument depends on the driving dynamics you're trying to reach.

Sorry for the late reply. I'm that sure because the RS5 is listed having this engine in the database of the German car insurance association:

Furthermore, some Audi insiders confirmed that engine months ago. It's the only engine Audi has been developing ECU software related to the RS5 for.

^ seriously. I had almost forgotten about it. With 450 hp, the C63 (that power pack in particular) will have more power (RS was supposed to be the craziest?!?) for normal road use, and the M3 GTS will eat it on a track.
