Because Audi is the same stupid as BMW. The BMW M1 was BMW's first M Car. Today Audi has the R8, Mercedes the SLS AMG, and BMW has nothing. Audi was not Premium, it started become one only after the first S/RS cars and especially their new identity, thanks to single-frame grill. Everybody knows Mercedes's history and heritage, like the "Silver Arrows", the luxurious "S Classes" and such. Same goes for BMW with the M3 and the roadsters, overall very sporty daily cars. What about Audi? Nobody knows a shit, just as nobody knows how Apple started. But in reallity Audi has heritage. It was the most feared rival of the Lancia Stratos and later the turbocharged 5 inline Lancia Delta Integrale. Audi had the Quattro, with a turbocharged I5. That is Audi, and Audi should build the "Quattro Concept" with its TC I5 and Quattro AWD-system. Not some shitty "Plus", " DTM" and "GT" versions, like BMW does. What is there special about a A5/S5/RS5 DTM/PeakPikes? Nothing. The Audi Quattro should be that car. The A5/S5/RS5 is just another big coupé powered by a big engine, like the C/E Class, 4/6 Series and such.

Bring the Quattro! Not some stupid Q2 and Q4.

Yes I do know that. But try explaining that to somebody else. I used the Quattro just because you can easily do marketing with that. It would be more dificult to connect the A9 to one of the luxury cars of those days. And see for yourself how different is the image between the cars you posted and the ones today. Before nearly all brands were respectful, they were passion lead, today they are money driven. Unfortunately, I have to say, Audi succes is based on its very good marketing (like Apple) not really on its heritage. And if ever they talk about the past in their commercials they always bring the Quattro. That is why I say they have to do it. The R8 is based on the present image, Audi's TDI succes in LeMans.

What is Apples succes based on? On the great products also. But marketing is what palyed the biggest role. Same for Audi.

I don't know what you mean by history, but mechanically, R8 road car and R8 LMP has absolutely nothing to do with each other (besides both are IC engine between the 2 axis and have 4 wheels).

Mercedes happens to be the same company as the silver arrows, nowadays Audi is not the same as those pre WWII cars or the Auto Union racers......

One reason is why the Audi R8 build, because Audi want to honor the R8 LMP victorys in the LE MANS-series.

Like I told you before, is a similar case like Bugatti. The name is the same, but you can't remotely associate the present day cars with the ones made by Ettore.

I couldn't care less for Bugatti, Lambo, Seat or Skoda. Last time I check, Mercedes as both brand and company, never ceased to exist. Audi is a reborn brand from VAG Marketing deparment
