Audi e-tron Gran Turismo due in 2020

The eTron GTs' instrument panel would have looked absolutely stellar in 2017/18. Unfortunately, it now appears borderline obsolete.
It reminds me of the below. A long stack of screen, buttons, vents and more.

It looks nice so far, but I believe the Taycan will prove to be more beautiful with a more progressive interior. The Audi interior already looks about 24-36 months old and quite fussy TBH.

It hasn't even been released yet and I'm already bored with it - inside and out.

As I've suspected-anticlimactic.

Odd how things so eagerly anticipated tend to disappoint a bit when they are actually presented. The eTron GT is almost a perfect mirror image of the universally revelled concept car. Yet, seemingly minor things appear to diminish the experience. Petty while still annoying: those exterior door handles that remotely remind me of hippopotamus ears from a full frontal view. The Taycan solution is far more pleasing. The criticism of the interior is not petty. Audi played it "too safe" here.

Maybe I'll change my somewhat somber tune when the car is officially presented tomorrow evening. Or, at the very latest, when I can scutinize it in-the-metal. But for the moment, I'll nurture my fascination with the Porsche Taycan (to which the eTron GT, at the moment, takes the back seat).

The photo of the white car isn't dreamy. I think the exterior will look better in blue, black, red or dark grey.

Have faith!

There are a lot of Tesla owners who don't like there flush and frozen in winter door handles.
Yeah I know about that, but it’s not like once a company made it and then let’s just stick to that, it’s also a feature they can develop and improve upon, it’s sad that they don’t even try. On the other hand it should not necessarily be retractable, just at least something like on the c6 fl, more in the body, BMW is also going in that direction. Though the traditional ones are the most convenient, they keep cars look dated a little.

Even the doorhandles on the comparatively "lowly" VW ID 4 are aesthetically more pleasing than those of the eTron GT:

It's your fault @Jimmy. You had us anticipating the second coming! ?

For the Spanish speakers, an interesting design comparo. I can only understand random assorted bits and pieces, unfortunately:

My only problem is that they have surprisingly too many similarities

My only problem is that they have surprisingly too many similarities

What I find interesting is the comparison of the "upper 1/3-lower 2/3 sideglass vs. flank ratio". The Audi provides an illusion (or is it ?) of shallower sideglass thus visually "lowering" the car with more perceived "flank mass" while making it appear a bit more "substantial" in comparison to the svelte Porsche.

There ought to be no surprises - it's a long-standing practice from VAG to dress up the same core engineering as different models.
To a greater or lesser extent, the underlying machine is differentiated by brand and styling but the overall outcome being founded in similarity should come as no surprise.

A bit of a prelude to this evenings' presentation:

A bit of cheesy marketing glib-but I reckon that's simply the nature of the beast.

I feel like the (maybe unnecessary) delaying of the launch is going to have somewhat of a negative effect.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
