you have to twist my arm for any of these fastback cars, i know its wierd when i love the Panamera, but thats different somehow..

But if you force me ile go with the 4er.

When there is one design detail which I don't like at some recent BMW's then the rear lights: 3 GT, 4 GC, X4, X6, 5 GT LCI.
It's time for a reworking.

BMW 4 GC is a much more prettier car and so is the previous Audi A5 SB, it beats the new car hands down. New one is a bad modernization of the very desirable previous model.

The convenience of the hatch perhaps more useful than the litres of stowage available, bigger aperture for chucking stuff in the boot... plus the fact it's sleeker than a saloon, tourer or GT.... and for some people, this is just as important as storage space.

Agree. The aperture makes a bit difference. I had an fastback once and when it came to occasional hauling of boxes or long stuff it never failed me unlike the sedan I owned after it.

While the 4er Grancoupe and A5 sportback look as hot as their two door variants, the added two doors are excellent for making travelling with mates easy.

Your typical 4 door sedan, be it A4 or 3e, will always be more stiff (the chassis) than its 5 door sibling.

From the 3/4 window on back, the Audi is a touch more convincing imo. The Quattro rear fender hip line, smaller 3/4 window and tapered dropping boot appear more modern than the BMW imo

The larger 3/4 window and straight up wedge shape of the BMW runs all the way to the boot make it appear like a normal sedan with added elements.

Actually a very difficult choice. The A5/S5 looks like the more graceful and modern car but the lights and the swooping line don't do it for me.
Anyway, the Italians do sedans best imho.

I remember having deep regrets that the first generation A5 SB didn't come to the States, don't find myself being excited about this new generation. Pity.

I actually had a look at and drove a 2013 A5 SB 2.0T DSG and it is a very impressive car. It is extremely stylish and yet is a very good family car as well with a big boot, practical hatch and as well as an impressive amount of space in the back seat. The car is built impeccably with nicely shaped and comfortable seats.
