German Autobild is very Audi/VW influenced. Every year in every reader survey, Audis and VW are doing well. Autobild readers like their products.

It may not be the most beautiful car of the year, but personally, I'm happy for the A4 to carry this title.

It really is a good looking car. I a silver one with S-line and all the jazz on it every morning and I can never stop staring at it. The proportions are spot-on, the lines are clean, elegant and flow well. The thing I have always liked about Audis is how modern (even futuristic) they look compared to other cars on the road. I am seriously impressed with this car - I prefer it to the A5. I have never wanted an Audi so much before

Pretty clear, Autobild has many Audi/Vw readers. Thats why Audi often win a comparison in Autobild

I think it is more fundamental than that.

Audi design is inextricable connected with Germany's Modern industrial heritage. While BMW and Mercedes have gone off on more expressive and rigorous adventures with design, Audi has continued to follow the traditional German Modernist approach more closely. This is a very academic approach with a desire to express technology and functionalism in a direct way.

Audi Design is not pure Bauhaus. It is far less ideological but more complex and progressive than that -- much more connected with Human emotions and a desire for more pluralistic interpretations.

I think if this was an American poll the results would be very different, the Germans have a different culture of design than the Americans.

I agree. The A5, espcially in S5 treatment looks absolutley gorgeous. Not to say that the A4 is ugly because it isn't but is it beautiful?? No, beautiful is a very strong word and it simply do not apply to the A4 especially if we're talking about the world most beautiful one.
