Autobild is considered by many as the leading automobile magazine in Germany and its annual ‘SportsCar’ of the year award is one of the nation’s most sought after titles by the automotive industry. The coveted award this year went to Audi and its R8 super-sports car after it was picked for as the best all-round package by a panel of experts.

The Audi R8 was picked because it was considered the most complete vehicle with the hottest body in the sports segment and, despite being a newcomer, displayed no serious weaknesses.

The trophy was presented to Werner Frowein, Managing Director of quattro GmbH, during the magazine’s “Race Night”, which formed part of the Essen Motor Show. The R8 is hand-built at quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm.

Kudos, well deserved. :eusa_clap

:t-cheers:

The R8 just won every "...of the year" award, I could remember!!
Audi did a great job with this car. Even I, and I'm not a great Audi fan, like the the design of the car and the way of passion the R8 broadcast.

Congratulations to Audi! :eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap I just saw it yesterday for the first time and what a beautiful machine it really is! What makes it even better is that you know it can also perform!

The star of the hour gets another well-deserved award. I still haven't seen one at the local dealer here or on the street.

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
