According to a report from German car newspaper Automobilwoche, Audi will build the upcoming A3 Cabrio in their Hungarian factory in Gyor where the TT is also made.

Audi A3 Cabrio confirmed for production.



Audi's product avalanche continues, production of the Audi A3 cabrio is confirmed one more time.
The "confirmation" was heard during the presentation of the Audi TT Roadster in Nice, and of course it comes with a softtop.

Hmm, many new cabrios for VW AG. I don't think Audi needs another small cabrio. They already have the TT. But in the above pic the A3 cab. looks very nice!!

I dont think it is redundant, it will be much cheaper than a TT roadster or A4 cab.

Why 'of course' a softtop??? I know the BMW 2er cabrio will have a softtop, but BMW is moving towards coupe/cabrio type cars, like the new 3er CC (and the new 6er for sure too).

Audi A5 cabrio will have a softtop too, very strange.

This will be a completely new body style, not that of the current model. Looking forward to it's arrival.

Audis´ head of design, Walter da Silva as well as (former) CEO Dr. Martin Winterkorn have both recently stated that Audi convertibles will be fitted with traditional fabric tops only.

They maintain that a fabric top expressively exudes an aura of high quality, distinction and timeless style. And, folding hardtop CC configurations are becoming quite ubiquitous (VW Eos, E93 BMW 3-series convertible, all Peugeot droptops, Nissan Micra, Renault Megane, new Chrysler Sebring, MB SLK and SL, etc, etc, ad nauseam...).

This will be a completely new body style, not that of the current model. Looking forward to it's arrival.

True the new A3 cabrio will be based in the next Golf/A3 (VW modular platform) architecture. The design won't be similar to the current A3.

To tell you the truth this is the first time i hear it but since the A4 will grow significantly in size (length around 4,70-4.75 m) that leaves space for a smaller A3 sedan (around 4,55m like VW Jetta).

Because one magazine wrote it it doesn't necesarily mean that it's true.

Many sites out there still believe that Tiguan and Audi Q5 will share the same platform. Autospies went far enough to say that Neeza concept is a preview of Q5!!!

I've heard that the A5 will not be a soft-top.
