That comment reminded me the time when Highest of High said that the 5 series looks like a scared squirrel.

Other than that, this car will establish an entirely new segment which will be small and fuel efficient car. So far premium and fuel efficient have been mutually exclusive. Those wanting a very fuel efficient car have been forced to buy a Polo or something similar that's really cheap. Living in the city reputation and image is quite important and this is where the A1 will come into the picture.

Isn't that exactly what the MINI is? How is this a new segment that hasn't been tapped into already?

MINI = Fuel efficient
MINI = Good materials used all over the car
MINI = starts at almost $20k (we aren't even talking about the S)

I have no doubts that this car will sell very well, the Audi that is. Good looking car, I think it'll look better as a 3 door though.

However, I think MINI drivers are some of the most diverse out there... male, female, very young, old. Not to mention that they are pretty popular at the tracks too. This car is saving our bacon when the economy is doing so bad.

Neither have I said so. My point was that the A1 looks more like a "traditional" design that might be favored by those wanting a more mature looking car that doesn't stand out in the same manner as the Mini, Beetle or Fiat 500.

MINI Series II: Adore the drive; tolerate the exterior; hate the interior; wary of the less-than-manly image.
