Refreshed Aston Martin Vantage Roadster Spied With Rusty Exhaust Pipes

Don't worry, the production version will feature fancier exhausts.

The Aston Martin Vantage in its current form was launched in 2018, replacing the previous-generation model which stayed in production for 12 years. While the British automaker probably won’t wait that long until a successor to today’s Vantage is introduced, the model still has at least a few more years on the market. This means a mid-cycle refresh would be needed to keep the sports car competitive and we have new spy photos showing the Vantage Roadster, the vehicle’s open-top version.

Caught close to Aston Martin’s test center at the Nurburgring, this trial vehicle wears camouflage foil that covers the entire body. It’s more than just a disguise as the automaker uses the fluoro-green wrap for marketing purposes displaying the phrase “Thrill. Driven.” There’s a lot to be seen under the camo though, including what appears to be a wider grille and completely new headlights with a sweptback design. There’s also a prominent front spoiler lip and new hood vents that have been repositioned closer to the center.

At the back, we can’t notice anything new, though the camouflage could be hiding minor revisions that are invisible to the eye yet. There’s something annoying with the rear fascia and this is the set of four exhaust pipes integrated into the lower section of the bumper. Those exhausts aren’t aligned with each other and are in pretty rusty condition, as opposed to the chromed tailpipe finishers we know from the current Vantage. Of course, for the final production version of the revised sports car, these pipes will have a more refined look.

As far as we are aware, there’s a 4.0-liter V8 attached to those pipes. In the current Vantage, this mill generates up to 527 horsepower and 505 pound-feet in the F1 Edition version, and this output could be increased a little with the facelift. No V12 option is under development, though.

The revised Vantage is one of several new or refreshed products Aston Martin plans to launch soon. In addition to the recently introduced DB12, seven new models are expected between now and 2026. The Vantage could debut before the end of this year.

2024 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster Spied for the first time!

"Aston Martin is set to launch a redesigned Vantage sports car later this year, and a prototype for the car's convertible option, the Vantage Roadster, has been spotted for the first time.

Prototypes for the Vantage coupe are also out testing, and the two body styles should hit the market at roughly the same time. Look for a 2024 or 2025 model year arrival.

Just like the new DB12 is a heavy update of its DB11 predecessor, the new Vantage will be a heavy update of the current Vantage, which has been on sale since the 2019 model year.

The spy shots point to new styling up front, including larger headlights and a more conservative grille in Aston Martin's traditional shape. Turn signals have also been added to the side mirror caps.

Expect some mechanical changes, though Aston Martin remains quiet on just what is planned. The DB12 received more power along with multiple tweaks to the chassis, including a new suspension design with adjustable dampers and stiffer anti-roll bars, an electronic rear differential, and increased rigidity. Expect similar tweaks for the Vantage.

Aston Martin hasn't pulled any surprises with the design of the Vantage Roadster's top. The roof is an automated folding soft-top that's likely the same design used on the current Vantage Roadster. That means it should require less than seven seconds to raise or lower.

Under the hood should be the same Mercedes-Benz AMG-sourced V-8 found in the current Vantage, as well as the DB12. The engine is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter unit that in the DB12 delivers a maximum 671 hp. Look for a lower output in the new Vantage, though at the same time higher than the current Vantage's 503 hp.

We know Aston Martin will no longer offer a V-12 in the Vantage. The automaker launched the last of its V12 Vantage sports cars in 2022.

The V-12 isn't the only option being dropped from the Vantage. Fans will also have to say goodbye to the manual. The Vantage line is Aston Martin's last car with the option of a manual, and the automaker plans to phase out the third pedal with the arrival of the new model.

A completely redesigned dash with a more advanced infotainment system is also planned. The current design relies on outdated technology borrowed from Mercedes-Benz."

The fighter jet cockpit style interior of the Vantage wasn’t bad. All it needed was an infotainment upgrade and rid of the merc buttons.

It wasn't bad, it was mindblowingly horrible.

Like, one of the worst looking interiors of ALL cars.

Good riddance to this disaster of a design.

Well, since its still the same body, retrofit the new interior onto the old car is possible.... because those headlights look horrible and makes the car look super nose heavy. I get it with the DB12 being a larger car but using the same design on the Vantage lacks imagination...

I never said before. I don't care now, I got it trouble for posting images of the Aston Martin DB12 about 7 hours before launch (or was it 72!🤣) and Aston Martin representatives said take it down.

I never did. So they forced the site owners to after it was shown anyway? That makes as much sense as a chocolate fireguard in July.

So if I find anything, we'll well see!
