Rapide Aston Martin Rapide Concept 2007

I don't know what to say.... :t-hands:

This looks cool, but it's not for Aston Martin. And think it's not really good to make a sedan from AMV8/DB9...That shows that designers don't have new ideas!!

Shades of Quattroporte, don't you think?
I think the idea is cool - there have been 4-door Astons in the past - but the design should be more distinctive than that PS.

As MikeJ mentioned, Aston Martin had produced a 4-doors in the past before.
Although it's not a pretty one to be honest.

But the Aston Martin Rapide Concept seems to be more like a 4-doors coupe rather than a sedan.
Sports cars brands like Porsche and Lamborghini are developing a 4-doors coupe, so why not for Aston Martin?

haha aston martin was one of the ugliest cars ....

It's too bad they never produced this...

:D

Apart from the Lagonda Alwing posted, there was also the quite different-looking Lagonda Series I, of which only seven cars were produced... link

I've only ever seen one Lagonda, it was a black series 4 with some nice rims, and despite what any of you guys might think it looked absolutely magnificent.

That would be an ace car. Would benefit from lashings of chrome - less wide hips and maybe a Lagonda moniker.

The chop is okey but I think that the final product will look really hot!!!

Heh, are you sure that is a sedan... It looks like it could be a boat getting ready to launch into that lake behind it.

I don't see any problem with Aston expanding it's model range. But what cars will it compete with? Will it be large??

many will belive me.. :D-- every one wants a piece of that cake

Looks like Aston Martin is taking a page out of Mercede's book with the CLS.
That will silence the 'nay sayers' that said the idea of a 4-door coupe was stupid.

i think the sales have done that allready..
Allthough i dont think many nay sayers where against the concept.. but more against the branding of the car as a coupe.. atleast on our forum..

Yeah, I think it's more the 4-door coupe thing. The car looks good to some, bad to others, but successful enough that it's a worthwhile concept. Once Porsche or VW hop on as well, then it's all over.

As for Aston Martin, I think it's somehow a natural fit. They make large, comfortable, fast cruisers, not sports cars as such. Sure those old products were a bit ugly, but that was then and this is now. I just hope they don't base the design on their existing models like that chop has done. I have enough trouble telling them apart already. Not to mention that it would strike me as being highly unimaginative and perhaps a bit silly to not take the opportunity to move their design along.

I need to see more pics but for what I've seen so far, it looks very good indeed....
