I disagree. Lance is definitely in F1 because of his dad's money, but Lawrence had already taken control of the failing Force India team prior to buying into AML, hence Lance was guaranteed a seat at Racing Point before AMR GP even became a thing. Even then, without either Racing Point or Aston Martin, Lawrence could - and did - just pay an existing team for a seat.

I'm not sure how your statement disagrees with my assertion. He's using the company to keep his son in F1. The opportunity for him to acquire the history racing team and majority in AM (they aren't the same company) was there and he did it, mainly for his son, who doesn't belong in F1, and his ego. Doesn't matter the team. It's just AM currently.

Which seems to suggest Lance wouldn't have a drive if his dad hadn't bought Aston Martin, and that he has is a detriment to the car company.

I'm pointing out that Lawrence already owned an F1 team, Aston Martin didn't, therefore buying into Aston Martin Lagonda wasn't a way of getting Lance a drive, he already had one, or was virtually guaranteed one anyway.

You can criticize him all you want, but as an heir apparent he's far from the worst.

He is not the worst pay-driver we had, no, Mazespin and Lafiti was worse. But we want to see the 20 best drivers in the world, not a bunch of rich boys having fun in the weekend. And I don’t think there are many that wants Stroll to stay in F1, with his «spoilt kid» attitude, exept his family. He brings nothing to F1, except from his daddy’s money.
