2016 Arash AF10 ready to rock Geneva with 2,080 hp
Arash Motor Company has announced plans to introduce an updated version of the AF10 at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

It was back in 2008 when the AF10 was revealed in production guise and now eight years later the supercar is being given a thorough update to keep up with the times. Its heart and soul is an extremely powerful hybrid arrangement consisting of a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine working together with four electric motors.

The conventional engine is capable of pushing out an immense 900 horsepower (671 kilowatts) and 886 pound-feet (1,200 newton meters) whereas the electric motors have a combined output of 1,180 hp (880 kW) and 797 lb-ft (1,080 Nm). This gives the all-wheel-drive 2016 AF10 a total hybrid power of 2,080 hp (1,551 kW) and a gigantic 1,683 lb-ft (2,280 Nm).

The hardware arrangement enables the AF10 to hit 62 miles (100 km) per hour in less than three seconds before topping out at more than 201 mph (323 kph).

The combustion engine sends its power to the wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional automatic transmission featuring paddles. Each electric motor is equipped with a two-speed gearbox and teamed up to the 32-kWh lithium-ion battery which in “Race” mode is automatically recharged via the quad electric motors that act as generators.

The 13-piece carbon reinforced chassis is connected to a body manufactured from carbon fiber reinforced plastic featuring an aluminum honeycomb sandwich construction. It rides on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires and benefits from an electro-hydraulic lifter to avoid scratches when going over speed bumps.

Besides the mental AF10, Arash also has a more humble AF8 Cassini which gets a GM-sourced 550-hp 7.0-liter V8 with 476 lb-ft (645 Nm) delivered through a six-speed manual transmission. The hardware package is wrapped in a carbon fiber body that weighs just 2,645 pounds (1,200 kg, dry). It runs the sprint in three and a half seconds and has a top speed of more than 196 mph (315 kph).

Both the AF8 and AF10 will be shown in the metal in Geneva at the beginning of next month. Pricing kicks off at £350,000 for the V8 model, followed by the AF10 at £1.1M. The latter can also be had in a Racer guise with a roll cage, fire extinguisher and other extras that jack up the price to £1.2M.

Arash Enters Hybrid Supercar League With 2,080-HP AF10

It’s been a while since we last heard from British supercar marque Arash and its determined founder Arash Farboud. A couple of years ago the company rolled out the AF8, a mid-engine supercar powered by one of General Motors Company’s [NYSE:GM] 7.0-liter LS7 V-8s and billed as a rival to the likes of the Ferrari [NYSE:RACE] 458 Italia and McLaren 12C. Now Arash is targeting the flagship models of its more established rivals. Yes, we’re talking hybrid supercars like the LaFerrari and P1.

Arash will take them on with an updated version of its AF10. The AF10 was Arash’s first road car though the original was more a proof a concept than volume proposition like the AF8 that came directly after it. The original AF10 also featured an LS7 V-8 but was made almost entirely of carbon fiber whereas the AF8 relied on a mix of carbon fiber and more conventional materials.

The updated AF10, which will make its world debut next week at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, adopts a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 and four electric motors. The engine, presumably still sourced from GM, is said to deliver 900 horsepower and 886 pound-feet of torque on its own while the four electric motors, two at each axle, deliver 1,180 hp and 797 lb-ft. According to Arash, the peak output of the system is a staggering 2,080 hp!

The engine is mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automated unit with paddle shifters, and it sends its drive to the rear wheels only. Each of the electric motors is paired with a two-speed gearbox and forms an all-wheel-drive system. The electric motors are powered by a 32-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery that can be charged by recovered brake energy or directly by the engine.

A carbon fiber tub forms to the core of the chassis. Aluminum subframes are attached front and rear, along with double wishbone suspension with adjustable dampers. The car rides on 19-inch front and 20-in rear wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires. Performance claims include a 0-60 mph time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed well in excess of 200 mph. Electric-only driving is possible but a range isn’t stated.

If you’re interested, Arash is currently taking orders for the car. The starting price is £1,100,000 (approximately $1,584,500). For an additional fee, you can get a lighter version built for racing.

We’ll have more details soon as the Geneva Motor Show starts March 1. In the meantime, learn about some of the other vehicles appearing at the Swiss show by visiting our dedicated hub.

Arash Motor Company is set to showcase a new version of its AF10 model at the Geneva motor show next month.

The British supercar maker originally launched the model back in2008, but this 2016 car is essentially an all-new model.

The 12-part carbonfibre chassis has been replaced with a 13-part carbonfibre construction, and the old car’s 7.0-litre pushrod V8 engine (sourced from the Corvette Z06) has been replaced by a five-part hybrid drivetrain.

The system consists of four electric motors (manufactured for Arash by Compact Dynamics Germany) and a petrol engine. Each of the electric motors has an individual output of 295bhp and 200lb ft of torque. The petrol engine is a V8 Cruciform crankshaft unit with a compact supercharger mounted inside its V-cavity. It produces as much as 900bhp.

This gives the AF10 a huge total output of 2080bhp, which powers the four-wheel-drive model to 60mph in a claimed 2.8 seconds, with a quoted top speed of 200mph.

Each drive unit has its own gearbox; there are four two-speed units for the electric drives and a six-speeder for the petrol engine; the AF10 can be specified with either a manual or automatic transmission with paddleshift functionality.

A naturally aspirated AF10 is also set to be made available for those who don't want hybrid power, but specifications for this model are yet to be confirmed.

Exterior features include carbon-reinforced plastic with aluminium honeycomb sandwich construction, two dihedral hydro-electrically lifting doors, a fixed rear wing, an adjustable front wing and new lightweight magnesium centre-lock race wheels (20x12in rear and 19x9in front).

There’s also a new front and rear axle double wishbone suspension set-up with a hydraulic lift system, which can raise the car by 15cm for easier clearance of speed bumps.

No other technical details have been revealed, but the new AF10 is expected to be priced from around £1 million.

The AF10 isn’t the only model the company is bringing to Geneva. Arash will also be showing the AF8 Cassini, which is a slightly updated version of the AF8 we saw back in 2014.

The rear-wheel-drive AF8 has a tubular steel chassis with carbonfibre reinforcements and is powered by a General Motors 7.0-litre LS7 V8 engine, with a power output of 550hp. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, it puts out 476lb ft of torque, while its 0-60mph time is a claimed 3.5 seconds. Top speed is listed as 200mph.

The interior gets some new carbonfibre touches and leather trim, with a touchscreen infotainment in the centre console. Customers can also opt for a stripped out version, which is designed specifically for track use.

Its performance is pretty slow considering it has 2080bhp. A car with 1/4 of its power (new 911 Turbo S) has a higher top speed of 330km/h and can match it from 0-100km/h in just 2.9sec.

they haven't quoted any specific top speed or acceleration, the only thing they've said is under 3 seconds to 100kph, under 8 seconds to 200kph and above 200mph

I got the info from the article above: "This gives the AF10 a huge total output of 2080bhp, which powers the four-wheel-drive model to 60mph in a claimed 2.8 seconds, with a quoted top speed of 200mph."

If this car really has 2080hp then it should be at least close to this car in speed.

i don't think it'll be like that, an ICE+ electric engines function completely differntly from a twin turbo car like that, though i do expect it to be quick to 200/250kph because of instant torque

It seems like technology is what drives this car forward, rather than just simple out and out speed. The chassis is a 13-piece carbon fiber tub mimicking that of an F1 car. Also, each motor (including the gas engine) has its own gearbox, which consist of two speeds for each electric motor and a six-speed unit for the V8. The car also has magnesium wheels, not unlike an F1 car. Arash is also going to offer a race version that comes with a roll cage, fire extinguisher and an intercom. More attention might be better focused on the racing version, as a car of this magnitude has virtually no place on the street. Regardless, it’s great to see this car in the flesh.
