Vs AR Giulietta vs Audi A3 vs BMW 1er vs MB A-Class vs Volvo V40 vs VW Golf VII

Which one would be your choice and why?

My choice is the car that, in my opinion, looks the best, has the best interior, and is really attractive in terms of design.
The Audi A3.

I still need time to accept the boring front on the Gold, and I like the A-class very much, but not that much as the A3.

The Volvo V40 is also damn nice, but I hate the interior. The the Gulietta is pure sex, but havent got that much attention, nor sales...

The 1er just doesnt exist to me, since it's in my opinion by far the worst looking current production car in the world.

So, for me:

1. A3.
2. A-Class
3. V40
4. Golf
5. Gulietta
....
....
....
....
6. That thing called the 1series

Is there something wrong with the vote because now it says I voted for the Volvo and I know it was the Golf, plus the Audi and Merc had the most votes but not now.

Bob, you will drive me crazy. You said you voted for the Volvo and now that I reset the poll, you voted for the Golf? Why?

:D

^As a Volve man you tweaked the poll so Volvo got some votes, just like the 1er. In this particular poll there's only one horse in the race and it's a rabbit.;)

Actually, rereading your post, I realised that I am wrong. You said that you voted for the Golf, yet it appeared as if you voted for the Volvo. I understood exactly the opposite. Sorry about that!

:)

And my official reply to this thread:

I can't vote for anything.

1. Alfa Romeo Giulietta: It looks stunning. It's simply beautiful and according to a GCFer's signature, "senza cuore, saremmo solo macchine". I agree with this guy's signature, but after driving one, I was not impressed. It was nice only when set to "sport" or whatever that setting was called, but the handling was still "safe". The car wasn't that playfull, and it certainly felt heavy. That sense of safety is rare to an italian car, and is certainly welcome to the Giulietta, but I was missing a proper sporty scent. If it was more exciting to drive, it would be my choise.

2. Audi A3: I took a good look at it this morning, as there was one at the local Audi dealership (still not on display, though - I found this one in the service area). It looked elegant, I liked the details like the lights, but I didn't like the interior. It was of very good quality, just not my cup of tea. And if what EVO and the other magazines wrote about how it is to drive, is true, then this is not what I want from a hatchback.

3. BMW 1er: I got behind the wheel of one for a couple of minutes. It felt like home, yet I'd prefer the steering to be heavier. The interior was very nice, but I absolutely hate the stock front. If we were not talking about the basic trim, it would be my choise. It looks good enough for me with an M-Pack bumber, but otherwise it doesn't. I have no issues with the rear.

4. Volvo V40: Comming from a guy that does drive a Volvo, yet hates all electonic nannies (apart from the ESP): It looks too much like the Focus. Yes, the first generation S40 was based on the Focus, but it was different. The design was 100% different and so was the driving experience. But this one resembles its cousin from Ford way too much. I wouldn't pay the premium over the Focus for a V40, unless I want the safety nannies and the badge. Which I don't.

5. VW Golf: It's a Golf. I almost bought a VI one, but in the end it wasn't sensible (we have a financial crisis, I didn't want to get rid one of my cars and 3 cars for one person is an overkill). I liked the VI a lot. I guess in real life, the VII will give me the same feeling of "security". Security meaning a car that is good for everything and won't let me down when I want a comfortable cruise, or a spirited drive. It's the best of all words, and even if it is not as good to drive as an 1er, it's still the most sensible choise. Yet, comming from an old school french hatchback, I find almost all moder hatchbacks uninspiring to drive.

Bottom line: If I was to get a front M-Pack bumper, I'd get an 1er. If not, I'd try to persuade myself that I am happy with my Golf.

6. That thing called the 1series

Your hating on BMW is cute and funny to read!

Keep it up.

After all this is a category FF-T layout category and the next 1 Series will also be FF-T.

LOL, you're talking dream fantasy Levi world things again. We know squat about the next gen 1.

Giannis, is this thread purely looks? Then my vote is for the A3. If it's the whole package, it will be for the 1 series and I would never ever look back.

Opel Astra OPC is damn fine too. Golf R rival.

I agree Just_me. That is a damn fine looking car. The rear lamps are a bit 'Audish' but overall, that is a very sleek looking car.

VW - New, really classy design. Interior to die for and the eventual GTI version. YeS.

Second that! Couldn't care less for others. Boring and ugly.

Oh yes, that Astra is even better looking than Golf, but i'll wait for R version to compare them and i think Astra will loose there...;)

There's lots to like about the Alfa (apart from the interior) but you then factor in reliability and it's a much less appealing package.
They're much better than used to be, and still way better than a Jaguar ;)

Now that Giannis added the Giulietta to the pack, for me is a tie between the practical and luxury A3 and the artsy Giulietta

Now you ARE living in a dream world. :p
Believe me. My very best friend, and my brother in law both have repair garages. JLR are the worst reliable cars and MUCH expensier to fix than your average (and much cheaper in the first place) Alfa, Renault, PSA or Fiat product.

Regards!

This is both Golf and A3 in base form, this is standard version when you dont add anything extra. Based on these pictures I actually think A3 looks the best. But its when you add extra stuff on the Golf , then Golf is the winner.

And when you add extra stuff on the A3, then the A3 again is winner.
Not to me. I wasn't a fan of previous A3 and since they are similar I dont like the new one either. But I will drive an A3 when I get the chance, hopefully it drives better than the old one.

I'm just going to copy the text from my other thread. My Audi A3 impressions:
http://www.germancarforum.com/community/threads/toyota-gt86-driving-report.46213/

I went to see the new Audi A3 today. I still think the exterior is bland and ordinary. Not my taste. Not a fan of the interior design either. Its not ugly but too simple. But I have to admit that the interior quality is the best in class. Pretty much soft plastics everywhere and all buttons are with a good touch feel. No testdrives allowed yet, I have to wait a few weeks more.

Thursday I have VIP invitation to Mercedes. To go and see the new A-class and eat free food. Also I car I will be driving in near future.
