^ Ha amusing ....the Beemer boys are all disappointed :D

What else is new. Beemer boys are disappointed and so is the Audi boys. Only one loving it is of course the Mercedes boys. What else is new.

It's a classic ;)

Yes, I did design the interior of the GLK. But sorry to disappoint you guys... MB is not doing research, I was just being curious. I no longer work for Mercedes. The GLK was one of the last projects I worked on before I left. I was a designer for merc for 6.5 years before I left at the beginning of 2006... I am now an Exterior Program Chief Designer for Volvo where I have been for just over a year. In between, I was a lead designer at BMW Designworks in California..... It's interesting to see what others have to say, when normally you only receive feedback from colleagues and bosses.....

You did a good job in my opinion. The interior design maches up very nicely with the exterior and it is by far the most interesting in this class of vehicle.

Interesting. Would you like to give us a brief on the philosophy behind the interior and how it was conceived in your head. I for one love it, but would love to hear you elaborate on it.

I think you and Rob aka SDNR will have a great chat about all things design in this forum. This forum is one of the best, most intelligent and most diversified car forum on the net. Btw a big welcome to GCF and we look forward to your valuable opinions in this forum.

Fantastic to have you here nyguy :)

What did you mean when you said MB is not doing research?

Well, basically I knew which type of vehicle is would be. The exterior is normally started shortly before the interior so that we can establish a common design language. Both affect each other in a reciprocal way. The GLK would follow the c-class and therefore had to look tougher, more edgy, and have more attitude.

Nyguy, How many years ago did you to start with the interior drawings for GLK?
I mean, you dont draw an interior over a night. :)

No, of course not. It was not a constant project from beginning to end, but I started working on it back in '03. The interior that you see today in the car though, I started working on in 2004. It was a pretty fast process you could say, but that was due in part to some component sharing with the C-class...
