AMS: mid-sized sedans supertest

When you say their fall from grace are you talking about their status/prestige compared to Ferrari/Porsche or their quality/reliability?
Both.

Still though there is something suductive about Alfas (Italian cars in general) that German cars have rarely (if ever) been able to duplicate.

Maybe those cars made before WW II like the 8Cs or Alfeta or 6C 2500 SS.
Alfa Romeo was back then for a while a pain in the neck for the germans.
That's why for me the 1939 Tripoli victory of MBs W165 and BMWs 1940 Mille Miglia victory of the 328, are the IMO the greatest german motorsport succeses. The german victories were so crushing, that it was like the ultimate
message "don't F*** with german uber cars".
That was the begining of Alfas fall from grace. Still after WW II, AR were succesfull once again, winning the first Formula 1 seasons. Car were still good
since the 60s, but their prestige was fading. Ever since the 70s it all went down.

Yeah I don't doubt that but look at the thing. I think if I had money like that I'd have my Mercedes/Audi for business and something a little more "special" like an Alfa. The car can't be but so bad or can it?

Maybe the AWD models that will be pesented soon will be better i don't know but still no quite up there in any aspect.

Well the history part is fun to read about and I'd agree there. I guess on how bad Alfas are I'd have to take you guys word for it because there hasn't been an Alfa sold in the U.S. since 1994 and at the time they were crappily built, but gorgeous cars. I was particular fond of the Milano.

I still would like to have one though if just for the style of it.

It's not strange that 3 series won although Passat surely gives E90 a run for the money. I 'm also surprised to see C class on the second place since it's usually behind A4.

Facelifted C-Class is truly amazing. The difference between the facelifted W203 and original W203 is more than just night and day. MB really made the C-Class a superior performer. I would go as far to say that the C-Class has now become more sportier than comfortable. :usa7uh:
