The review told me little to nothing about how the car drives. This is the reason why I don't watch top gear sny longer.

Alpina cars are underrated. While BMWs are well set up and tuned from factory. You can make improvements by replacing the run flats, upgrading springs, shock absorbers or anti rollbar. Alpina do all of this very well, including fine tuning.

Maybe it's me getting older, but I am finding the B5 a bit more appealing than the M5. IMO, the biggest advantage the M5 has over the B5 is its trick AWD system.

BTW, does Alpina also pipe in the fake noise via speakers like the M5?

Maybe it's the photographs but the crease from the headlights down to the bumper is far too sharp.

It reminds me of someone creasing a white shirt with a strong ironing crease down the arms.

Other than that the straight lines of the head and tail lights suit the body kit extremely well.

yeeeeeaaaaah, that's a lovely thing. I still feel the B3 has a bit of an edge. Though that can be because their PR pics showed it in Alpina Green.

Bit of side note: for every 10 new X5's I see on the road, I'll see a new 5er, which is a shame. But the point is that I don't see it in the metal all too often. However, I saw a pre-LCI 530e the other day, and for all the criticism the rear gets, especially the taillights and them being too big, I think it's unwarranted. I think it looks just right. I will be curious to see how the LCI back-end looks in person.
