Introduction: Alpina B5 Biturbo continues as a touring tourM5 ? The decision between Alpina and BMW has always been a type question. The absolute athletes have access to the M5 , who places emphasis on comfort and understatement at the same performance, takes the B5. Especially since the Alpina, unlike the BMW, is not electronically braked. The new B5 Biturbo is supposed to be as fast as 330 km / h. An extrastarken Kombi offers only Alpina with the B5 Touring, because BMW has saved the M5 Touring two generations ago. With 608 hp, the new Alpina B5 biturbo is just as strong as the upcoming M5 F90 . At the maximum torque, Alpina with 800 Nm is even ahead of the M5, which leaves a maximum of 750 Nm on the xDrive. Despite brachial performance, the B5 remains visibly reserved. Alpina is the perfect balance between sportiness and elegance. The 4.4-liter V8 is supplied with fresh air via the large air intakes at the front. New is the Alpina free-weaving lettering in the front spoiler, which is optionally painted in chrome, silver, gold or black. The typical Alpina trim in silver or gold is also available for the new B5 Biturbo.

Interior: Digital instruments in alpine designBMW 5 Series . Just like outside, only subtle details distinguish the Alpina from the BMW. The leather finishes are, for example, taken over by BMW and refined by Alpina stitching and lettering. If you like it particularly noble and exclusive, the interior can be completely customized in the in-house saddlery. Further distinguishing features of the normal BMW 5 Series are illuminated entryways, various decorative strips and a production plate. The digital instruments make the small series manufacturer blue, the hands are green or red depending on the selected mode. The often misplaced gear shift knobs on the rear of the steering wheel can, by the way, be replaced at no extra cost by the standard BMW shift shifters.
Equipment: subtle optics for the B5all-wheel drive . Alpina has reworked the standard xDrive and the suspension. This is how the B5 is to achieve the perfect balancing act between dynamics and long-range comfort. Just like the normal BMW 5 Series, the B5 also features an air suspension on the rear axle in the Touring version. Alpina also offers a differential lock for 3300 euros.

B5 uses BMW 5 Series ConnectivityM5 . The imposing 800 Nm maximum torque of the B5 should already be at 3000 rpm. Thanks to the standard all-wheel-drive system, the B5 sedan accelerates to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds, the touring takes a tenth of a second longer. Thus, the new B5 is the fastest alpine at 100 km / h, but still two tenths slower than the BMW M5 , which is to reach after just 3.3 seconds of highway speed. The new Generation of the eight-speed automatic with Switch-Tronic, which has been reworked together with ZF, takes over the power transmission.

I can't believe this car does 330kmh, it makes the M5 and E63S look like hair dresser cars with their puny 305kmh (drivers package) top speeds :wideyed:

I'll take the Touring please. This or an M5? BMW is smart to get two bites at the customer/apple.

For me personally I would take this Alpina in Touring guise over the M5. I just like the discreet styling and personality of the Alpina rather than the in your face aggressive looks of the M5. I think the B5 will probably be a better investment as it is even more rare than the M5.

I'd maybe take Alpina over M550i, but i would NEVER take Alpina over stock M5... Never!

It's an awesome car, no doubt!

I love Alpina's but its no substitute for a M5. Also, M5 is usually more towards sport than Alpina does.

M5 over all, but surely you don't have to think about M550i vs B5?

It's hard to ignore the exclusivity of the B5. There really is only a handful on the roads here in the UK.

With the G30 becoming more luxurious, and the M5 becoming all wheel drive, and given the existence of the M550i and M550d, there is less to make the B5 stand out from its stable mates... but daayuumm, it's an appealing option.

Would you still take it over the E63S ?

He hasn't even seen the M5 yet. Just like that article above, comparing the B5 to an unreleased M5.....why?
Or maybe he means he'd take the new Alpina B5 Touring over the F10 M5......well, I would too!

:D:p:eek: LOL good question! No I don't think so, that E63 S is something else, awesome machine, but it would be nice to have this B5 in my garage as well if I could afford both!
